The Strahl That (Still) Stirs Enbridge's Drink.

Well, well, well...

It looks like, sometimes at least, doing the expedient thing and the right thing can both sit on the head of  (slightly slippery) pin.

To wit:

"Please accept this letter as formal notice of my decision to step down as Chair of the Security Intelligence Review Committee."

With that, Chuck Strahl stepped down as Canada's top spy watchdog.

The embattled head of (the CSIS watchdog) SIRC came under heavy scrutiny after the Vancouver Observer broke the story on Jan. 4 that Strahl had as a lobbyist for Enbridge Northern Gateway.

On the bright side, it's good to know that the skid greasing Oil Co. handouts are more important and/or lucrative to Mr. Strahl than Dear Leader and Country.

Or some such thing.

______
Let the lobbying of Snookland in general, and Darth Vader in particular, begin in earnest!
I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge VanObserver's Matthew Millar's continued good spade work on this one.

Yes, it was good work. That is why we need a good press which works independently from government. If he had not done the "spade work" we might never have know. You certainly couldn't rely on the MSM to break a story like that.

At least we now know that even the Cons can pay attention and where the line is concerning their w.

With a bit more smog coming over from China people may start to be concerned about all the coal going there. Canada may have some standards regarding pollution but china not so much. Perhaps people could be encouraged to boycott made in China goods until they bring their pollution under control. we can do all the pollution control we want in North America but if it floats over from Asia we will still develop lung problems.

The smog is entirely due to all the production of 'stuff' for purchase here in NA. A direct result of companies moving their production to a country that has criminal labor practices (low wages and atrocious working conditions) and virtually no environmental pollution standards. But the companies care not one whit, so long as their profit margin is high.
