Crap.

I sure am glad to hear that, in the end, he got back to Victoria where he belonged to be with all of those who meant the most to him.

****

More, later, including a story of how the then young Horgan once good naturally called this not particularly proficient lacrosse player 'Chicken Legs' a very long Braefoot/Stevenson double park time ago.

(it's a descriptor that's still pretty much true, by the way, no matter how much bike riding I do)

Sad news. Mr Horgan was a good man.

I'm lost for words with the passing of a true gentleman.

"You know the greatest danger facing us is ourselves, an irrational fear of the unknown. But there's no such thing as the unknown — only things temporarily hidden, temporarily not understood." - Captain James T. Kirk.

Bon Voyage Mr. Premier.

RIP. Just the guy you need when you want to drop a house on the Wicked Witch Of The West.

He battled, he won, he lost but tried to improve British Columbia...

Good man he was.....He's my friend...

Don't think I shared this story....Here it is..

After John Horgan won the election, which was delayed over the Comox recount....He called me on my cellphone...it was about 2:00 pm...I was driving on the Sunshine coast highway, close to Sechelt, and I was towing a 28 foot boat....I answered....John Horgan was gidddy...I said to our new premier..."Hold on a minute John, I need to pull over"....
Took only a minute to find a safe spot to park on the side of the highway....
I resumed the phone call with John Horgan...

Horgan thanked me, and said...."We won, and damn it Grant, you pushed me to run for leadership and premier, you wrote encouraging stories, you blasted the Liberals daily with hard hitting facts, and we prevailed and for that......Thanks"

I'm a nobody Mr. K.......merely a man who shared something personal with John Horgan...

I already miss him......Damn

Grant --

He reached out to a whole lot of us nobodies when we needed a bit of thanks and/or a boost. Beer knows.

You might say that's the mark of a good retail pol, which it is, but he was exactly that kind of guy when I knew him a little when we were kids.

We first lost Jack Layton.
Now we have lost John.
Two gentlemen in a political world of trash.
Best wishes to those close to him.

So sad to get the news that John had died. I knew when I saw him about 1 year ago that he didn't have much time left. He was a good man. My condolences and best wishes to Ellie and the other members of his family.

Rafe Mair said John Horgan was worth considering for NDP leader so I went down to meet him at an event he put on at the Railway Club. This was late 2010 I think, to promote his first leadership run. He was very interested in our fight against IPP's on the Sunshine Coast and really respected the average working guy. I would be classed as a redneck environmentalist, not really what he was used to but he brought me back on board with the NDP. He really would phone at all hours, just to see where we were at. In later years we had opposing views on few things but I always felt very honoured to have met him. Must have, or I wouldn't be so sad to hear this. My condolences to the family of a good man.

My condolences to Mr. Horgan's family and friends. He was with us for too short a time. He was a very good Premier and B.C. was lucky to have him especially during the time he was in office. He had a great smile and style.
