The Enshittoscene Is Here.

MosaicVille

Cory Doctorow explains all in his new four part CBC podcast.

And he's bringing the receipts:

...The thesis of the series – and indeed, of my life's work – is that the internet didn't turn to shit because of the "great forces of history," or "network effects," or "returns to scale." Rather, the Great Enshittening is the result of specific policy choices, made in living memory, by named individuals, who were warned at the time that this would happen, and they did it anyway. These wreckers are the largely forgotten authors of our misery, and they mingle with impunity in polite society, never fearing that someone might be sizing them up for a pitchfork...

Give it a listen.

  8. Hit a sore spot I see. I have found when a post becomes too truthful for the likes of the establishment, they unleash the trolls.

"Cry havoc, and unleash the trolls of war!"

Not so sure about this particular post. It appears that, instead, the anti-vaxx flat earthernwarists have been riled and roiled into a frothy swarm by the usual suspects.

  11. Pardon the tardiness of my comment. Google has made it cumbersome to do so. Since I became a fan of horse racing a quarter century ago I have been witness to may tracks closing. Closing BC's interior racetracks hurt the most. I miss my city boy takes on the rubes excursions a great deal. Shortly after those closures came the closure of Saskatoon's Marquis Downs - my favourite out of province oval.

The closure of Hasting's Racecourse is, or ought to be, unthinkable. The Hastings's Park Liberation Army is readying itself for action. Vancouver is forever trying to present itself as a world class city. World class cities race horses.
