Last Saturday night seems so long ago now.
Here in Vancouver it was the night of the progressive greening.
But here's the thing...
When you look hard at the numbers above, it's pretty easy to see why right-sider Ken Sim's mayoral numbers dropped so precipitously compared to the last civic election in 2022.
It's those three rightish-siders below Mr. Sim on the list above, all of whom either worked with or worked for Sim in the past.
And, so, if you give the numbers garnered by that trio back to Mr. Sim the totality of the Greening (and the Copeing) would likely not have happened given that the split on the right was even more significant in the councillors' race.
In contrast, the numbers suggest that David Eby will not receive such a split-driven assist in tomorrow's provincial election.
Importantly, that Leger poll, above, which was published in Thursday's Vancouver Sun, is not a one-off.
As such, it really and truly appears that the right-sided split that Mr. Eby was betting on is gone.
And, to add insult to injury, that bit of a late game bounce for the provincial Greens could be a double-whammy in close metropolitan Dipper/Con ridings.
Which means that we will very likely see a big change of government Sunday morning coming down.

Earworm in the header?...Of course...This!
The best, I think, we of a progressive bent who are not in the 'burn it all down camp because Eby is so bad' camp can hope for is that the advances were orange enough that there is another NDP/Green coalition...But that really looks like a longshot at this point, especially given that the Green bump does not appear to be translating into seat gains.

Yup, Eby is an idiot for calling this unnecessary election. I don’t see how he’ll be able to stay in Vancouver really. He’s going to need a whole new postal code. If he or his party had asked practically anyone they would have said NO, don’t call an election, you’re barely holding on as it is. Hopefully he gets turfed as that will be the only bright spot in all this coming darkness.
Fry and the greens were also helped by the fact that the prog rock parties got together and agreed, how refreshing, to not run multiple candidates for mayor amd help out a bit in ridings that could be close with the sim-ple team.
Way to go proggers and thanks for helping us and each other by punting sim to the curb.
Graham--
Excellent point on the ProgRock supergroup formation in Vancouver!
.
Well, at least the Conservatives won’t be able to sell BC Rail again.
Good point Chuck!

well I do recall some organizations have sold things more than once. It usually is a crime but thinking back to the 1950s, one can never tell. There is a lot of land in this province, Crown Land, which could be sold.
there is that stretch of land along the coast of Vancouver Island and the Leg. buildings and they could try selling the land UBC sits on. Having lived through all the Socred b.s., then B.C. Lieberal ..................
If people want to believe what the cons are trying to sell, they can only blame themselves. All those hospitals they are promising in Surrey, good luck with that if you're waiting for them. People don't understand how much a hospital costs. Richmond General is supposed to be "re worked". cost $1.9 billion. Second Children's Hospital for east Vancouver--a lot of money. I think what we may see is what we saw during the B.C. Socred era, they built two concrete towers and they sat there for years, no windows even before they were finished and Paterson donated $50M for the cancer building and the Diamond family donated I believe $25M for the other building. Even Jimmy Paterson is not going to be able to afford all the hospitals B.C. needs and he is worth $12B according to some press. That old expression of a day late and a dollar short. Well in B.C. we are at least a $100B short and 40 years too
late when it comes to our health care.
People bitch and complain about the lack of health care and then bitch about taxes. Health care is very expensive, from the land, the building, equipment and then staff. Hell the people of B.C. were pissed they had to pay $75 a month in health care premiums for a couple who made enough money for that rate.
Eby was an idiot to call this election. He under estimated the ability of the right wingers to get their act together so fast. Given the money to be made I had no doubt they would achieve their goals. Oh wait, they could sell off the provincial park camping grounds. Wonder what the provincial camping site on O.K. Lake would go for and lets not forget Cultus Lake.
Of course we ought not to count out MS. Stoko. May have to have a look at getting dual citizenship........well Europe does have some good health care facilities. e.a.f.
If it was a proportional system it would have been a minority.
True, but BC Hydro and ICBC
I strongly suspect that the Supreme Court of Canada is going to get a lot busier in the next four years.
The could sell BC Rail again because BC Rail existis, as it operates the line from Coalbrook Junction in Surrey to the Roberts Bank Superport. It makes its money from wheelage from every coal and container car that operates on the line.
