Falcon's Ghosts Haunt Rustadville.

From Rob Shaw, breaking away from the herd while writing for Glacier Media:

...In Richmond-Steveston, the Conservatives refused United candidate Jackie Lee. He went on to garner 2,354 votes as an independent, undercutting the less-impressive Conservative candidate Michelle Mollineaux and handing the riding to the NDP’s Kelly Greene by 484 votes.

Same thing in Vernon-Lumby, where United candidate Kevin Acton, the mayor of Lumby, pulled in 4,266 votes, knee-capping Conservative Dennis Giesbrecht and giving the riding to the NDP’s Harwinder Sandhu by 477 votes...

Now, of course, it was Mr. Rustad and his minions who rejected Kevin Falcon's ghosts of the Soccer Party past who, if they had been taken on in those two ridings, could have flipped the entire election result.

So, what does the good Mr. Rustad have to say about it all?

Here's more from Mr. Shaw's piece...

...“There was a lot of people that were dissatisfied (with Falcon’s decision) and wanted to carry on with the fight,” said Rustad. “It's unfortunate.”...

Unfortunate, indeed, for the denizens of grammar-challenged Rustadville.

As for the rest of us?

I beg to differ.

These are the bits of FPTP that I really enjoy.

It's almost as if Falcon deliberately sabotaged his own party- he who has posed with the Party of the People (essentially that's who Rustad's group are). It will undoubtedly go down as a head scratcher- a disastrous attempt at rebranding and whose dumb idea was it to try and rebrand Falcon himself? Nonetheless, we made it through without Rustad taking a sledgehammer to many things in BC. Tim W

It was nice to se the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association and the BC New Car Dealers Association get hoisted on their own petard!

I've never seen British Columbia ethnic diversity laid out quite like this before. eg Vernon-Lumby

As Falcon eviscerated the newly renamed "United Party", one forgets it included those who would never vote for the anti-vax, anti-science- climate change denying Conservatives.

Thus by extension would probably not have voted for a former BC United Candidate running under the BC Con banner.

As Fursteneau's Greens blundered along trying to loose the election many people like myself had none to vote for and just stayed home feeling completely disenfranchised.

As I view both Rustad and Eby (I know a lot more than I should on him) I found both Eby and Rustad unfit to be Premier of BC and with only two "tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum" candidates to vote for, running with the corrupted "unfit to govern parties" I did not vote as well.

This election, which many would not admit, was a choice of premier least hated by the electorate and that is no way to run a province.

As there is no way for a voter to register his vote saying the candidates running are unfit for office, our politics will continue to devolve into tribal/religious/ethnic battles, mostly based on "who spends the most money wins."

I feel your disappointment.
At least we now have the Social Credit/Liberal/BC United party campaigning under their true name!
The Greens have, sadly imploded and the giantkiller Sonia Furstenau being measured and found lacking on many fronts.
I ask again; where are the pragmatic Greens?

Better yet, who advised Fursteneau and the Greens? I am far to much a cynic and wonder if it wasn't a set up?

The free transit nonsense was obviously a plant because it is unworkable.

Don't know who advised them. But politicians don't need bad advise to do stupid things. Free transit is not going to make it anywhere. Lovely idea perhaps here on the Island, but on the mainland where they need billions of dollars for infrastructure for transit, not happening. Its silly. Free transit maybe Green but what about health care, schools, seniors care. Some times the Greens are a little out of touch with reality. On the other hand they said that about the CCF when they fought for health care.
I'm fine with Eby. Horgan would have been better, but hey you work with what you got. At least it isn't Rustad who is premier. Doubt if Eby is going to bring in leg. like they are in Alberta which will decide upon the medical care or lack thereof for children under 16. There is some debate in Alberta about Smith wanting to instruct the Alberta police to not enforce federal gun laws and there is talk of their own provincial police force. So I'm good with Eby because people like Rustad just are too scary--he was sorry he had had a COVID shot????? How would that impact the next epedemic.
We have had some "entertaining" premiers in this province in the last 60 years or so and we did survive. We will survive Eby but Rustad would have effected people's health and who knows what else. He reminds me of the Socreds from the 30s in Alberta.
