My Afternoon Ride.

EastOfEden

We made the trip over to the People's Republic of South Van Isle, again, for Thanksgiving with eleventy billion running maniacs.

It was a full ferry on a flip-flop-infested Friday night. But all went smoothly.

Additionally, all went pretty much as well as it could go with our grown-up kids getting together with their cousins on both sides of the family, in shifts, through the weekend.

As for me, I took a bit of break Saturday afternoon and rode out to Matheson Lake.

The idyll was it, news on the dead tree page included.

Monday will be crazy times on the trip back across the Salish Sea I reckon.

Selah.

There's nothing worse than a tapering marathoner... except maybe a boat full of them!

Always!

A whole lot of folks walking very stiff leggedly, heel-to-toe on that boat today.

It's all fun and games until you have to go down a flight of stairs!

Like from the upper/cafeteria deck of one of those Kraut Rock ferries down to the bottom/truck deck!...Truth be told, especially given that I had purposefully pushed the bike km's a wee bit over the weekend, I had a bit of that problem myself.

I remember ..... working (building) on the Queen of Coquitlam ... at Burrard Dry Dock ... when she was built ..... on a slope, to use gravity to slide it gently into Burrard Inlet. Two sets of passenger stairs, right? One Aft, one Forward. We use to call the Aft one .... closer to the water, 'Cardiac Arrest' because it was a lot steeper than the other end.

Always happy to take one of those boats with the aft caf., etc.

As kids, we would play nickel hockey on the tables with the goals in the corners where the wood spill rims ended, just short, on the sides and ends.
