"I just showed up this morning and they had this little thing set up for me....Uh, you know...And he (Premier Gordon Campbell) left the room....

It was all a staged event......Everything he does is staged.....

I'm surprised they didn't have somebody from PAB there organizing the event."
Former Campbell Gov't Minister of Mines 'N Stuff, Bill Bennett.

You can find this quote (which is just one zinger amongst many) at the 34 minute mark of Rob Shaw's marathon recording of Mr. Bennett's post-sacking presser on the VT-C website here....

The Prem took the coward's way by exiting the meeting and leaving the dirty deed to his minions. 'nuff said.

Yup.

And earlier on in the presser Keith Baldrey pushed Bennett on this point...essentially calling the latter a liar because CHansen said it was a cabinet decision...It's a most 'colourful' exchange.

Another scribe (it may have been Baldrey, I can't tell for sure) makes it clear that Hansen was 'authorized' by Campbell to break cabinet confidentiality to tell him all about it (to, one can only presume 'innoculate' Hansen against the same charge that was levelled at Bennett himself - ha!)

This codswallop is unbelievable....Especially when I recall all of the machinations that were used to preserve the 'protocol' of Cabinet Privilege back in the days of the pre-trial RailGate hearings after they were usurped by the man of many hats.....Sheesh.

Listened to the presser and every time that Bill talked about what a great leader Gordo is, and what great things he has done for this province, and then he states that he just wants to tell the truth, . . . . . what a pile of moronic crap.
If Bill wants to tell the truth, he should talk about how bad Gordo's record is, how he has sold the resources that belong to the people of this province to the lowest bidder.
Come clean, there is so much evidence about the corruption of this Lieberal party that anyone that speaks that belongs to Gordo's gestapo makes me want to puke.
It is time for all of them to get out of dodge, lying, thieving bastards.

Hi Ross

The fact that they trotted out all these convenient explanations just proves Bennett's point that this was all orchestrated well in advance - even down to the article in the Sun by Fowlie headlined that "Gordo left the room..." or some such...

On another note, the interview I heard with Hansen on CBC radio just after 5pm on the tax cut reversal was priceless...some thing to the effect of:
CBC host: "....so the Premier and the Executive Council decided the 15% tax cut was the best way to go?" Hansen: "Yup, we all decided together..." CBC Host: " And now, 3 WEEKS LATER, you all decided it's not?" Hansen: " Yup, it's a new situation now..." The PAB sponsered drivel in our local Saanich News couldn't keep up to the spin - Tom Fletcher's column in the Nov 17 edition had Hansen insisting that the tax cut would ``stimulate the economy`` and couldn`t be undone ``because Revenue Canada had been notified``

What obvious BS...

...addendum....I was referring to the spin about the firing decision not being associated with Campbell...Fowlie's piece was in his "Capital Diary" blog....

And now the minimum wage is going to be raised to $9.25. Where did this magic number come from... the known rate of inflation from the $8 wage in 2001. The Editorial in the Vancouver Sun is calling for a formula that would automatically raise the minimum wage every time inflation goes up. I have a better solution, in light of El Gordo rolling our 15% tax cut back from the promised January 1st starting point of 2011... because the cupboard is still bare.... The New Minister of Finance should cut everyone's wages back down to the 2001 rate, and doing it by collecting the monies as of January 1, 2011. Retroactively from the end of February 2011.

No need to give a belated raise to the minimum wage earners.

First to be cut down... MLAs, Deputy Ministers....., etc.

Somewhat encouraging, I thought, was the "At Issue" segment of CBC's The National today ...

Their discussion turned on the topic of inconsistency in political leadership ... to the point of "Why should we believe ANYTHING our leaders tell us? They say one thing, then do the exact opposite."

They were referring to Harper mostly but also Gordon Campbell. Clearly it's a topic which is worrying them (Chantal Hebert, Allan Greg, Andrew Coyne) and their passion gave me hope, because they were sounding just like us.

If Big Media wakes up, wow ... what a day that will be.

I am worried Campbell is going to make everybody drink the kool-aid before he is finished.

Thanks for the comments all.....

Sorry to so late to the party - have been in the science-geek bunker for awhile now.

Now that I am finally free, I have taken up the chant...

".....I will not drink the kool-aid (being foisted on me and mine by EMustel et al.)...."

Gosh.

I just had a most scary thought....

What if it turns out that the Wise Hamburgler's heretofore unbeknownst (to anyone but the Tanman) twin brother from another planet has actually been living in a hidden shack deep within the bowels Stanley Park for years so that he can administer to a disaffected, but deeply committed, flock of defrocked condo-kings that pray to the chromium-yellow pyramid gods across the water while they babble in reality checked tongues under Lumberman's Arch every Saturday afternoon?*

Or some such purely snarkian thing.
