Is The Dipperian Position On A Money Laundering Inquiry Softening?

We first noticed it in a tweet from AG David Eby followed by his Fed-blaming press conference last week.

Now, tucked into a report from Global's Sam Cooper about the BCGEU's call for a corruption inquiry, there is this:

...(W)hile the B.C. NDP government has been resisting demands for such an inquiry, party leaders including Attorney General David Eby and solicitor general Mike Farnworth have started to make behind-the-scenes arguments in favour of an inquiry, according to Global News sources...

Shades of FDR and that 'I want to do it, no go out and make me do it' mythology from days of yore?

Skimmed through the report but the thing which really drove me over the edge was the log splitter. that was so over the top I'm still mumbling, a log splitter, who the hell buys a log splitter like that unless they're in the business of cutting wood for delivery. Even the guys across the road, who have a wood deliver business, so a lot of their splitting by hand. Weaver, Green party, didn't know of any wood burning fire places in the Leg. and if he doesn't know, I know there aren't any.

Obviously this goes very deep and is indicative of a culture of entitlement and thus corruption at the Leg. and it needs to be dealt with via enquiry. The news did indicate Eby and Farnsworth were leaning towards one, but my impression from the reporting was Horgan was fence sitting, while Meggs is against it. I'm sure Meggs is against a money laundering inquiry. Hello City of Vancouver and how council helped all that "developments" along.

My suggestion to Horgan is, fire Meggs and get the inquiry going. Get ahead of it or it will have your head.

Originally thought an inquiry would not be necessary but at the BILLION dollar mark, changed my mind. We need one because we need to root out the corruption. If we don't it will continue to fester and then next time a new government comes into office, it will start all over again.

We all benefited from the money laundering. Developers who wittingly or unwittingly helped things along, hired construction crews, they benefitted. Everyone in construction and supplies benefitted. Money laundering through the casinos, we benefitted. The lottery corp "donated" money to communities which have casinos and that paid for play ground, fire halls, etc. So we need an inquiry and we need to restructure how the money from casinos is spent and divided up or perhaps the money no longer go into communities but rather into general revue or straight into health care.

Gambling takes money right out of our economy. it causes social misery. Provinces went the casino route to "make" money, but really, in the end its not only going to cost money, its going to cost the people of this province their souls.
