The Flynn Affair....The Judge v. The Trump/Barr Department Of Justice.

You've probably seen, read or heard about how the currently misnamed USian Trump/Barr Department of Justice has exonerated the USian Trumpian former national security advisor Michael Flynn, a fine fellow who previously pled guilty to lying to the FBI about his secret conversations with the Russians.

And you may have seen all the breathy talk in the biggest of the bigtime media about how this latest outrage is unprecedented in legal terms, all of which makes for blood pressure-raising headlines that will likely all be gone by Monday when the next unprecedented outrage blossoms.

However, what you may not have seen/read/heard anywhere is analysis of how the judge in the original case has already refuted the 'new' arguments of the USian Trump/Barr DOJ.

The place to get that is from Marcy Wheeler over at Emptywheel.

Here is her latest kicker:

...Just six months ago, (judge) Emmet Sullivan examined the substance of the arguments that (USian Trump/Barr) DOJ claims are new. He not only found that they did not affect Flynn’s guilty plea, but he reminded Flynn that Flynn already stated, under oath, that none of the things DOJ raised yesterday change that he was guilty of lying to the FBI...

So, the real question now is....

Will the judge overrule the USian Trump/Barr DOJ's brazen attempt to grant Mr. Flynn a pardon/not pardon and uphold the guilty plea, regardless?

****

If you're at all interested in keeping track of what is really going on here, and what is likely to come with the Roger Stone case, I highly recommend you keep tabs of what's going on over at Emptywheel, and not just for the posts because the comment threads, which are ruled with an iron fist by excellent comment mods (meaning they don't suffer fools or misinformative garbage spew), are informative as well.

Still need to have a thorough read of the article, but have lightly read similar articles. No one seems to want to remember either that while Flynn was working as Trump's first security advisor he was on Turkey's Pay roll trying to extradite or kidnap and American resident so he could be shipped back to turkey for eventual execution, he being an enemy of Erdogan. Flynn as I recall also wrote an op ed favouring Turkey during this time. Now if that is what you call a loyal American, I'd rather have an out and out traitor. At least you know where you stand.

In my opinion, perhaps Flynn has let Trump and the boys know he knows more than he has said and it will not reflect well on them and it may be something not even republicans in the Senate would be able to stomach except for Moscow Mitch, Jim, I didn't see anything on the wrestling team go wrong with that doctor, etc. Flynn doesn't want to go to jail during this time and may have played his last card to avoid a death penalty. Well COVID in jail can be a death penalty.

Agent for Turkey, indeed e.a.f.--

Just wanted to be very clear about this specific case here re: what the judge will be ruling on.

18 months ago, Flynn was going to be sentenced. Judge Sullivan could barely contain his disgust for Flynn and his actions.

If the judge stands by his words of then, I see no reason why he shouldn’t stand by them now, as he is well aware of the scam from barr. From what I can figure out from the pundits, he could be cleared in such a way that it doesn’t rule out further prosecutions.

Obama had once dumped Flynn and warned the incoming clown car not to have him on the payroll. Just what does Flynn have on trump.? If Biden gets in we will know.

Flynn gets away with it and protects trump, a young black jogger is shot on film and it takes the Georgia state investigators to wrap it up in a couple of days, when the local police sat on the film since February. Equal justice under U.S. law.
