Cool!
Trouble with “double minors”? Well, try this simple trick:
Match the pair, the ii-chord to flat iv-chord, with another pair: the IV-chord —which you do—followed smartly by the V-chord which you omit. Just divide the beat into two to fit it in. Somehow the fingers feel the resolution coming and just hop, skip and jump over the lead-up chords. Don’t ask me how or why this works—at least some of the time!
For a minute there I though you was gonna do “Long Black Veil” which Danko sang lead vocals. I get to do this number with the Conrad F Campbell band just about every weekend (we took a break today to do Christmas shopping at the Craft Fare in the Dance Hall).
Yes, I’ve crossed to the dark, C&W side (even Dark—as in, noir—C&W). He just released a YouTube number, cover of an old Marty Robbin’s tune, “Don’t Worry About Me” which we recorded at Marc Atkinson’s studio, The Barn Studio on Hornby Island. I don’t much sing anymore so I just do the Tele stuff. Check it out.
And, as always, KEEP ON ROCKIN’!!!
