The United States of America is doomed and has been doomed since 1776.
Born of a myth, by accomplished grifters, who made huge profits because of slavery, the USA blundered on, achieving little.
The USA grew into a farcical, semi religious, racist, fascist state, inventing and reinventing its history with every decade. The USA economy was based on cheap labour.
The great American myth was bolstered by Hollywood and a plethora of cheap movies twist the American myth into profit.
Then WW2 happened and the USA stood on the sidelines making profit by selling weapons and only entered the war when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour and only then the industrial giant came to life.
This created the middle class in America, a new class of people who could purchase homes and educate their children and take politcal power from the upper classes.
This lasted from 1943 to 1970, when the Kent State massacre, where an ill trained and ill lead military openly murdered students.
Since kent State, the USA has slipped back into its fascist past, promoting dangerous Evangelical Christian Right, which has more to do with oppressive politcal power than religion. It has also seen a extremely malignant political faction, the MAGA/Tea-party now taken over an established Republican Prty and has a new Hitler, ready to take power.
With Trump, the United States is doomed; doomed to revert to its historical roots as a country for the wealthy, made wealthy by virtual slave labour by a poverty stricken, ill educated peon class, fed Hollywood History and lead by an utterly corrupt politcal and judicial system that refuses to modernize, refuses to cede power.
The USA is doomed, doomed to repeat history of the 1860's, doomed to suffer international censure, doomed by corn pone religion and inbred politics.
The question for me is" "How will Canada react?" Do Canadians have the fortitude to go it alone into the world? Or, I am afraid, slip into the cesspool of USA politics and be absorbed by the malignant elites south of us.

If Harris wins the nomination, it will leave Biden free to deal with the supreme court in any manner he chooses and it seems that the Department of Justice has been getting aggressive with the MAGA Court and Trump's Mar Lago/treason case. Abetting to Treason is an avenue to rid the Supreme court of its MAGA majority.
Evidently, pedophile Matt Gaetz let slip at the convention that Judge Cannon, who has bee doing a rearguard with the Trump Mar Largo treason case has been promised by Trump, for the next seat open on the Supreme Court.
The tables have been turned 180 degrees with Biden not running for a second term.

canada needs to get ready for an old version of the U.S.A. and that includes new military partners and a much bigger military with up to date equipment.
