Just in case you were wondering...
Those German-built, import duty-waived ferries that were designed to drive the final nail in the coffin of our local ferry building industry back in the days of GordCo, Inc. v1.0 are still throwing hella prop wash at every single berth they dock in.
On the bright side, they still kinda/sorta work.
Some of the time.

A late freind of mine, who was an engineer for BC Ferries aid the "Das Zitrones" were like English sports cars and needed a tune up ever week. Evidently, Europeans do not like ferries breaking down mid trip and the companies take preventive maintenance seriously. Not so much in BC.
The other cost was that BC Ferries ad to strengthen all the piling at the docks because the prop wash was scouring away the foundations. This cost added tens of millions of dollars to the ferries but the media, as always, were asleep at the switch.
From what I have been told, domestic ship builders did not mail enough plain brown manila envelopes to those in charge to keep construction in BC.
The ironic thing is that that shipyard in Germany (Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft) filed fro bankruptcy in 2024
