Damn those hipsters and their artisanal distilleries!
Oh, wait...
"....After a nationwide run emptied the shelves of hand sanitizer, several distilleries realized they had the equipment and the alcohol to make their own. As long as they weren’t making health claims or selling it, they could help. “Ultimately, I’m part of the community. I want my friends and neighbors to be happy and healthy,” said Jon Poteet, of Shine Distillery and Grill in Portland, Oregon. “I want to be in a healthy community, and it feels good to be able to give back.” So Poteet is bottling and giving away hand sanitizer to customers, as is a distillery in Indianapolis, among others. “This is a time for all of us to come together and combine our focused efforts to get COVID-19 under control,” said Travis Barnes, of Indiana’s Hotel Tango Distillery..."
Now, before anyone gets their dander up, hand sanitizer has its place, particularly if you're stuck somewhere for awhile without soap and hot water.
But the latter really, really works because it dissolves away ultrathin p'lipid coat of viruses.
So, as my Mom used do say...
'Go wash your hands!'
Although I'm pretty sure she never said anything about social distancing - but do that too!
OK?
.
Work for me in the forest industry continues. We wash our hands and try not to sneeze on one another too often. Same goes for construction workers and a good many more. Had today off to recover from what was supposed to be a night out last night. Got out to try and do some shopping. The Costco parking lot was half full before they opened their doors. March Madness continues.
ReplyDeleteHand sanitizer is good and I'm glad companies are making it. small distilleries are doing it and so is a large French perfume house. Now, if we had a bottle of each, wonder if the scent might linger. I could go for that.
ReplyDeleteIts great that these firms are stepping up to help out.
Beer--
ReplyDeleteYa. It seems like people with real jobs still have to go in to work everyday. Thanks for the update.
Sorry to hear you had to miss your night out...We had a big one scheduled for Mar 28th that I was going to tell you all about but, well...Venue says we can re-schedule, so hopefully you'll be hearing from us.

This is one place where you and I differ...Lingering scents of all kinds are things I do my best to enjoy...In the lab, when I'm actually working, we spritz everything with straight up 70% ethanol to sanitize...No messing around/no lingering smells/no gels...
wash your wrists also
ReplyDeleteno cell phone in bathroom either
Points taken Anon-Above.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Then there's the 5G theory that Telus metal boxes mounted on telephone poles are the potential cause of the Covid-19 outbreak which would account for the 7 deaths at the long term Lynn Valley Care facility.

Telus Towers, on the other hand, are nowhere near the Care facility BUT .... one does sit almost on top a Kiwanis Care Home (a kilometre south-east of the care home) which has not reported any cases related to Covid-19

Correction one third of a kilomete
