DownGoes Allard!Ville
You know, I think he just might be.......
Trying to embarrass Senator Barack Obama, Senator Wayne Allard, Republican of Colorado, offered an amendment Thursday (Mar 13th) that purported to total up the costs of Mr. Obama’s favored initiatives to the tune of $1.4 trillion, which would then be added to the $3 trillion budget.
The message, of course, was that Mr. Obama, a Democratic presidential candidate from Illinois, is a big taxer and spender.
So, did Obama turn turtle and run for the hills?
No.
Instead, he strode in with a purpose and threw a haymaker......
Mr. Obama marched to the well of the Senate and gave a hard glare to the Republican side.
“Hey, Allard,” Mr. Obama was heard to shout at a volume unusual for the Senate. “You working this hard?” he asked, sarcastically dismissing the amendment as a ploy.
And when the Republicans were called on their crap in the cold, hard light of day, what happened?
Did Obama get stomped?Did Obama get slaughtered?
Did Obama hand the slimeholes a propaganda hit-piece?
Well, let's find out......
Somewhat sheepishly, (the Republican) Mr. Allard gave his colleague the thumbs-up Senate sign for an affirmative vote and urged him to back the amendment. Mr. Obama declined, voting no, as did the other Democratic presidential candidate on hand, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, and everyone else present. He and his colleagues then strode off.
So, did Obama win (AFTER he left)?
You bet he did......
The orphaned amendment was shot down 97 to 0.
Hmmmmm.....
Maybe the following should become the rallying cry when pushing back against the 'work' of sanctimonious scurrilous slimeholes everywhere.....
You working this hard?"
______
Real moral of the story: This guy is no Kerry. In fact, I'd be willing to wager that, if somebody catches him saying that Karl Rove and Co are the worst people in the world just off camera he won't run from it, he will own it. OK?
And did you notice how Ms. Clinton fell in line also?
Oh, and where did I find this interesting bit of news that, if wurlitzered, would likely give Mr. Obama a decent poll bounce? Well, quel surprise!, it was buried deep on the New Pravda's very own Pincus page - A17 of Friday's print edition.
Update: Our good friend GWest raises a valid point about Mr. Obama's repudiation of his reverend in the comments. However, on this one, I think Cliff gets right to the heart of the matter.
