Well, well, well.....
As we noted this morning all kinds of proMedia folks were running off at the mouth wurlitzering up rumours about a coming HST Rate Cut and a Referendum Date Rollback.
Well, now the spinmeisters that wind-up Colin Hansen every morning have him out front of the thing blaming the Zalm for all of it because of the voices in his head.
But here's the thing.
This morning, while he was flinging the codswallop on P.Till's little radio show, Mike Smyth distinctly said that the Rate Cut rumour was red-hot yesterday, not in Fantasy Gardens (or on Fantasy Island), but instead in....
.......Victoria.
Looks like Mr. Smyth might have some 'xplainin' to do for handing the PAB-Bots a potential wedge rumour on a silver platter.

RossK,
I can't take it any longer... While the media was covering this stupid little rumour story, they let the big news slide - the HST in BC and Ontario dragged the Canadian economy into negative territory last quarter. Not what GC promised is it? But do you think there's a single BC story about that? Nope.
And while it saddens me to be so cynical Ian, I know, in my heart of hearts, that there is a whole passel of Spinmeisters out there that will sleep better tonight safe in the knowledge that the herd has learned that there are Angels in Delta...
.
Smyth is wrong on one count, the hst vote is for September 24, 2011, its now October 1, 2010, its less than a year, not more than a year Mr. Smyth.
Thanks Anon.

"How to file an FOI request to BC Ferries in just five minutes"
By Chad Skelton, Vancouver Sun September 30, 2010

Now this is a learning curve to go on that can be applied to any government, not just BC Ferries. And the beauty of this, BC Ferries, is that once they process a successful FOI by the MSM it will immediately be published on BC Ferries website AND the Vancouver Sun is going to publish it on their website, the FOI applications that they are making to BC Ferries.
This should get interesting, now that BC Rail is back inside the Government.
I hope you noticed the spinners are also busy at work in the shiny new almost tabloid G&M this morning. Check out Rod Mickleburgh who's weighing in to tell us (shades of the Mace Man on Basi/Virk) that it's all just a 'pointless sideshow'.
Fact is, I've been thinking for some time now (and posted the notion at the Tyee weeks ago) that the CEO might very well use a promised reduction in the HST as a safety valve to let the steam out of the petition protest movement.
I still think it's highly likely, and given the fact that the Premier seems to have told the PAB to 'let the dogs out' I think we'll see a lot more sparks shooting out from under the BC Liberal jalopy in the next few weeks.
I just hope they didn't 'get' the idea from me.
GW--
I think they will do any and all they can to try and get a media manipulation hook in....Clearly the last few days have been a clear example of this.
Gotta go read Mr. M's piece in detail...To my way of thinking he has, so far at least, been most decidedly un-Mace-Man like.

The Globe and Mail has just transformed itself into a Canwest rag.
I have had to stop reading any Globe and Mail articles, especially the ones dissing Vanderzalm. The comments are good though, reflecting citizens' views, not BC Liberal lies and media regurgitation.
Oddly enough have actually started reading the Province again. Could hardly believe it but they had some decent investigative reporting on BC's appalling poverty rate and an editorial saying Wally Oppal was not the best choice to lead the "independent" investigation of how the police let Pickton continue murdering women.
