Who Knows What Evil Lurks In The Hearts Of The P3 Highway Men?

...The Sea-To-Sky "Shadow Toll" Knows!

Citizen journalist extraordinare Laila Yuile has done all the digging to break another major story that will not make Gordon Campbell and/or his former Minister of Pavement, Kevin Falcon, happy.

This time Laila has discovered that, not only did we wildly overpay to have a private company build that highway to the Million-Dollar-Condos-Of-The-(socalled)Stars.....

But.....

Get this....

We, the People of British Columbia, are now paying a toll to that same private company every single time a German SUV flies up and down that road on the way to and from apres-ski.

Yes, that's right.

Instead of the drivers of those luxury vehicles paying the toll so that they can go 125 km per hour instead of the previous 105 , every single British Columbian is shelling out instead, regardless of whether or not they even live within 500 kilometers of that hype-laden highway.

****

Laila's in-depth story is here.

It's a doozy - and it is the type of in-depth investigative reporting that we would all like to see more of 'round here.

At the very least, it should now be one more subject that any self-respecting pro-Journo that has been 'granted' a post-speech scrum with the Premier should be asking about come Thursday morning.

OK?

Great post by Laila!

Wonder if His DrunkDrivingNess will address it in his Wednesday night "Please Don't Kick Me to the Curb" speech ? ? ? ?

Bob--

He most definitely won't.

But....

If a 'friendly' that has been granted an interview (say the Cluffmaster Flash, or the Goodship Watercarrier) were to ask him, specifically, about it on Thursday morning, well?

(and if they don't ask him?....Well that will say a lot too, I reckon)

Well, if the MSM has been checkin' Laila's site, they have no excuse not to, do they ? ? ? ?

;-)

Or if lots of people make enough of a bloggospheric ruckus that the fine friendlies can't ignore 'substantive' allegations backed by fact.....

(which is exactly what the Glimmer Twins, Mess'rs Palmer and Baldrey called for last Friday....And Laila gave Mr. Palmer the goods once already....Readers with total recall may even remember how Mr. P. was shamed into acknowledging Laila as a source in a follow-up column)

Did my bit at The Beav.

Don't have "total recall" but I do remember the Palmer mea culpa, weak as it was . . . .

Laila Yuile(blonde Bomber).. I have sent her story far and wide...

Mr.K.....Campbell can talk his way out of this one but....

But the big story is...Let the working stiffs in the Fraser Valley and Maple Ridge know that while they have to be bled dry on tolls that they are also paying tolls for Ida chomp chomp Chong and Jane chug alug Thornthwaite and the elites heading to Whistler!

If that doesn`t sink their chances in a few more ridings...???

Cheers

Guess I'll have to bring peanuts the next time we meet up, what with your elephant memory and all . . . .

Grant--

My thoughts, exactly.

Don't know about you, but I sure as heckfire don't think me and mine should be paying for the gentry in the puffy wigs to whip up and down that road at 30 clicks over the limit just so they can keep their appointments with the Apres-Ski Bunny.

_________

Bob--

Dry roasted are my favourite.

(sometimes I even keep a secret stash in the [notso]Microbus)

Perhaps it's not an elephant, but YOUR elephant memory that is IN THE ROOM!

Thanks for the kind words Rossk and crew! Various media was on last night, and again this morning, so lets hope we see this on a large scale in the news before Campbells speech.

No thanks required Laila.

It's a king salmon of a post, and the story you tell deserves the widest dissemination possible.

And Ross K as I noted on Lailas blog in the comments. All this money that we are paying comes from WHERE? Why the HST of course. Double whammy.
