We're On Our Way To Summer!

The two E's have headed back across the Salish Sea and, suddenly, we're in that weird lag between Christmas and New Year's.

I was down at Albert Head this morning with the Whackadoodle II - tide too high and the swells too big for much of a beach walk.

But...

Soon we will all have made it through December, Merle Haggard's version or otherwise.

Which means we will soon be on our way to summer!

______
Two things I hope to figure out in 2024...
What is the real driving force behind Ken Sim's' determination to kibosh the City of Vancouver Parks Board (with, it would appear, tacit provincial Dipper approval)?...And...Is there some sort of super secret agent mannish-type plan to melt the faces of the two leaders to force-fuse the Soccer Party with the provincial Whackaloons?

I think its simply a matter of getting a handle on the parks and what goes on with them I recall the reactions to the building of the aquarium in Stanley Park and holding the animals in those pools. City couldn't do much about it. Park's baord territory. then came camping in the parks. Crab Tree Park camping didn't go over well with a lot of people. Parks board loved it, others not so much. All of it costs money. This way, anyone has any "ideas" there won't be any because Council will control the Parks. Saw the Park's board as the farm team for the council.
I'm fine with it. Sims got the Christmas train up and running via donations. Parks board was just letting it rot. Many again baby boomers remember taking their children there. Some of us with no kids, would accompany our friends with their children. Total piss off when it was closed. Getting rid of teh parks board also will save a litttle money. I suspect that over the years the park's board has pissed off the provincial government. Next time, the province only has to talk to council and there is always something a counciil wants so a deal can be made. The curtailing of cars in Stanley Park did not make me happy. There are lots of people who can't walk around the park, the need to be able to park their vehicles and get out or there is no park for them. It was all a waste of money. Hopefully they'll get rid of the horses and carriage also. Other cities don't have a parks board. At the rate some parks boards have behaved in past decades I sometimes wondered when they were going to start building condos along the sea wall. Have always loved that park. Its where we went in the summer on weekends, Second Beach. To use the city parks now, you need money and so they're only for those who can afford it. Thats not what parks are all about.

If Sims doesn't screw up majorly, he may be Mayor for a very long time. He certainly is better than the previous two Mayors and some before that also.

Thanks to you both--

Old pro Paul Willcocks always warned against assigning intent.

In this case, I, like, Graham, cannot avoid it...

Graham--

Here's hoping there is still much white stuff to come!

Personally, I just look forward to the longer days as I detest going to and coming home from work in the dark.
