Mashable's Matt Binder, a proverbial fly in the Muskier of ointments, has noticed something:
...On Monday, it appears X attempted to encourage users to cease referring to it as Twitter and instead adopt the name X. Some users began noticing that posts viewed via X for iOS were changing any references of "Twitter.com" to "X.com" automatically...
So what, you might be asking yourself?
Well, let's set aside the issue of being free to type your own speech for a moment and consider the fact that while 'X' changes the text, the original link, as Robert Plant might say, remains the same.
Which means that, if an expert phisherman were to type, say, 'Netflitwitter.com' into their post, for a whole lot of people it would show up as 'Netflix.com' on their own devices.
And, given that, anyone who banged the lever on the 'Netflix.com' link would think that they were actually going to the streaming site.
But actually, even if the destination looked like the Netflix site, they would instead be landing on 'Netflitwitter.com' which could lead to all kinds of shenanigans involving things like passwords, etc.
If you get Mr. Binder's drift.
Meanwhile, in other news of Muskovites in need of the most soothing of ointments....
This.
_____
Would have liked to include a phishian ear worm to go with the image at the top of the post but, to the best of my knowledge, there are none....And, yes, that was a jambandian diss-track in linear-type form....To give them their due, however, the band is into....mondegreens!

As for the Zeppelin worm buried under the lede?....This!
Finally, sure hope this one is eclectic enough for the sawmill sh*tter...

Phish has many great songs, I listen on the SXM Phish radio station in my car. Maybe the song “You enjoy myself” would have been a good one. For the title anyway as it is mostly an instrumental song. Musk seems to think everyone enjoys what he does and if we don’t well, we should.
Glad to hear from Beer there and that if he is still getting a break then the universe is tracking along as it should.
Thanks for keeping it going Ross. I’m guessing you’ve been busy and so haven’t heard too much from you lately. It seems just last month you were saying you were busy because the new term is starting and now here we are and the second term is almost over.
A busy winter for me as well and now we have summer a couple months away. Things could be getting nutty in Canada with pp and jt jostling and predictions for more high temps and drought and fires. Oh fun.
Musk is very bright and given his personality or lack thereof, he thinks every one should think as he does and doesn't understand why we don't, because he is so smart. In some ways he is still very much a child. Like some children he is very self centered and greedy giving little thought to the world and people around him.
Now as to Tesla stock, I've always thought of the stock market as the great con. I saw Howe St., in the 1960s and 70s and Murray Pesim and the rest of the Howe St. Grenediers. I always thought if they could "play" with the stock market the way they did here, they could do it other places also. Watched the pump and dumps, read Bains column in the Sun regarding multiple stock market "games".
As to Tesla stock loosing some value, it may simply be the company isn't making as much as it used to. That is the result of the price of the cars. People who could afford them, bought them. Most of them have them and the rest of us either can't afford them, don't trust them in rural areas, can't afford the repair bills. Now that the Tesla has been around for awhile, people know they aren't perfect, others are wondering about the minerals used for the batteries, others wonder how all that electricity is going to be produced and what will be used. Some investors may think musk is a little too far off the wall to keep money in his corporations.
Was not keen on subsidies to people who purchased Teslas. They already had money, enough to purchase the vehicles, but those with not enough money to purchase vehicles, food or a decent place to live, got nothing. Just another case of governments subsidizing those who have more money than those who have so little.
Glad to see you have a new post up, thank you!
I'd be a little concerned that Twitter is changing, unasked, people's writing Twitter to X. See how easy it is to minipulate writings on a computer. It might be better if there was a law against that.
Led Z. they spent a lot of time playing jxxk off music. There were better. Saw Robert Plant on his own, and he was good, but the band all together, not so much.
The only thing lower than the dupes who think Musk is clean is people who don’t like Led Zeppelin.
This one’s for Beer and all Led Zep fans, sorry e.a.f. Although Greta Van Fleet isn’t Led Zeppelin they have been compared favourably to the iconic band. This is a great tune and I first heard it in the car coming home from the mountain, work, one evening.
I immediately wanted to hear it again… https://youtu.be/PoCC8jgECIM?feature=shared
