Came back across the Salish Sea this afternoon...
To the best of my knowledge the Wacky One was not at the helm of the fine Spirit Class boat we rode in on.

Interesting to note, "Waky Bennett" warts and all, left the province in better shape than any other following Premier has done.
He had something no other premier since has had and that is vision.
His son never did, the NDP never has, Gordo and his ilk, raped the province of its assets and the present lot in Victoria only care about Vancouver and nowhere else.
Yesterday the "Eye" was at a meeting about the future of "getting around" the metro area and I can tell you, the complete and utter blindness to the future by our current lot of elected vultures is more than astounding.
It seems, once elected, no one can see 20 minutes into the future, let alone decades.
Considering that the Socreds were considered a "populist" conservative party, there is so much stuff that WACky did that would get him labeled a commie pinko today!
GarFish--
You mean the commie-pinko nationalization of the ferry service?
At a cost of $7 million!!!
(and here's the crazy thing...He gave Flying Phil the job of doing it, sans pavement and everything)
.
Try BC Electric too!
Of course!
.
He took over B.C. Electric the day after Dal Grauer's funeral. Mom was not amused. tacky, tacky, tacky.
Although People tend to think Bennet was a great Premier, during those times, a monkey could have run the province with the same results. (not an original line, remember some people were of that opinion).
Lets not forget Bennett and his Socreds weren't big on social issues, i.e. education, social services, health care, then there was Flying Phil and all the stories about him, Gracie's Finger.
mini WAC wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Grace McCarthy rebuilt the party and then handed it to him. She should have become the leader, she was so much smarter.
Did you depart at 9 Am precisely?
Thanks for the other, very important, side of the story of the Wacky one and his legacy eaf.
Anon-Above--
I wish.
We were on the 1pm, on Labour Day, screaming kids everywhere as I go upstairs in a rush to get a cubicle...And it left 12 minutes late...They made up the time though, given the 3pm shift change.
.
Both the Spirit and the ferry where Wacky was the helmsman were built in B.C.
How things have changed.
Keith--
Indeed.
And, as much as I hate to admit it, I have some sympathy for the good folks currently running Seaspan on this one...
.
Gotta love Quebec supporting their ship building industry. Here in BC, we still remember this!
