Well, actually it was Sunday.
And the news was lousy.
Because it told me that Todd Snider had died.
This, below, might be my favourite story of how great it can be me when you get to meet one of your true heroes, musical or otherwise...

Thanks for that Gazz.
Thank you
This is like an echo from far down the corridors of time, listening to CKLG-FM when I first arrived in Canada, about to finish high school, now an oldster who still likes to sing and play, but working with a whole different toolkit and perspective. So sad to mark the passing of those who grew up paying hommage, but thankful that the JJWs are still haunting us.
I'm sure the 'backing' duo is not lost on you Beer.

Your welcome eaf--
Mr. Snider was a true original.
.
Danneau--
You talkin' bout that free-formed station that later underwent the pablumization that spat out C-FOX?
Why, yes...I believe you are!

Isbell, both during and after his addictions nearly took him down, and Shires, admirable for a great many reasons including giving Isbell a reason to live, for sure. Jerry Jeff Walker I would have looked up to my whole life if I had got country music before I turned 40. Pretty cool to see him singing so sweet in his last years.
Yep, Bill Reiter, John Runghe, kind of patterned on a couple of open-studio (for short time) SF long-formers, notably KMPX, c. 1967. There was even some leakage over to the AM side on CKLG via Terry David Mulligan who had a foot on either side of the AM/FM chasm as the boat was preparing to pull out.
It took me until I was Danny Gatton years old to really cotton onto the depth of country offerings and circle back to re-evaluate things like this. I didn't suffer for it, but I'm still paddling like hell to make up for lost time.
Same for me Anon-Above and Danneau - paddling like hell I mean.
