There is a whole heckfire load of bad stuff pointing right back at us, the country formerly known as Canuckistan, in the newly unblacked-out report on the Arar inquiry.
But something that has gone relatively unnoticed is the following:
The newly released sections (or the inquiry) indicate that neither the Syrian government nor the FBI were convinced that Mr. Arar was a significant security threat. They also suggest that the investigation of Mr. Arar was prompted by the coerced confession of Ahmad Abou el-Maati, a Kuwaiti-born Canadian who was also imprisoned and tortured in Syria.
You got that?
Torture.
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing.
