Phil Hochstein Wants To Protect You From....

AllTheScareTactics
ThatFitVille

...Voting?

After all, how else can you explain the following, from the man that fronts the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association, Mr. Philip Hochstein, who also was recently one of the fine folks in the BC Liberal government welfare-assisted building and pavement industries that feted Gordon Campbell as being bigger than Hey- Zeuss and/or the Beatles:

...."We want people to be aware of the involvement of NDP and Labour, and the consequences for their personal information," Hochstein said. "People who don't want their name to end up on a door knocking list for the next election only have one way to guarantee that doesn't happen - by refusing to sign the recall petition." Hochstein said with all the political change possible due to the leadership contests in the NDP and the BC Liberals, as well as the HST referendum, the recall campaigns are an expensive and pointless exercise.....

And the most bizarre thing about that fear-mongering, anti-democratic, codswalloparian quote above is the fact that it was trumpeted by....

Mr. Hochstein himself.

sleazy and misleading, brings the worst of American style politics to Oak Bay.

Uses fear and intimidation to discourage having an active involved citizenry which is desperately needed for a functioning democracy.

o-t-r--

Absolutely.

Which is why he and his must be called out on it.

If we, the citizenry, let this kind of fear-mongering by government-aligned corporate-backed surrogates stand we deserve what we get in the end.

Thanks.

Mr. Hochstein is not just misleading people. I allege he is lying to them.
When ELECTIONS BC releases the voters list, they do so to not only the proponent but also to the MLA involved. Both are sworn not to use it for purposes other than the recall.
So if Phil is so worried that another party will get the list why is he not just as worried that the Liberals will get it and use it for the same reasons.
It doesn't bloody matter that this list goes out to the proponent (who is the only one that can use it within his/her group)it's going to go to any registered party/riding association at election time any way.
If anyone doubts my word (including Mr Hochstein) just read the act.
I am sick of these peoples lies and will attack their statements at any place I can.

For a while there I thought the PAB had given up. I see they're back. Anon 10:29, better polish your resume, because when we take this province back, you are fired.

What a classic demonstration of you scratch my back & I'll scratch yours. To be a well liked Premier in this Province all you have to do is keep digging into the taxpayers piggy bank and spend over budget on so called public facilities. That is unless your the NDP & then it's called reckless spending. Go figure.

GaryE makes a very important point.

So.

Why is this point not being used as a torch by proMedia pundits to burn this ridiculous straw man to the ground?

and he did in less than a decade, without a mention of credit going to the Ministers of Transportation or the rest of his Caucus. Now I understand why Bill Bennett (not the former Premier) called him a ..... and with our tax dollars today, and for the next 55 years. Gee, thanks Gordo.

Check out Vote Smart BC, an anti-NDP rant maintained by Philip Hochstein's Independent Contractors and Businesses Association of B.C. This website has an inane feature: Race a Fast Ferry.

Even 10 years later, Liberals still think of fast ferries as politically useful. That supports suspicions that they had bad motives when they took the aluminum ferries out of service, ignored consultants' recommendation to use the ships after minor modification and parked them at a highly visible North Van waterfront moorage for years. BTW, the company that moored them, bought them for less than scrap value and is rumored to have profited handsomely once they were sold for service in the Arabian Gulf. By sheer coincidence, that company is a major contributor to BC Liberals.

I recap these and other things at

Phil Hochstein and the ICBA have donated $325,000 to the Libs in the last few years.

For what? What do they get out of it?

FYI when we worked on election campaigns, after we got the voters' list from elections BC we would get a list of telephone numbers from the phone company and use a software program to merge the two. The CD's from the phone company aren't that expensive (and they do not include unlisted numbers).

How do you think campaigns get phone numbers?

Ad hominem abuse

Ad hominem abuse (also called personal abuse or personal attacks) usually involves insulting or belittling one's opponent in order to invalidate his or her argument, but can also involve pointing out factual but ostensible character flaws or actions which are irrelevant to the opponent's argument. This tactic is logically fallacious because insults and even true negative facts about the opponent's personal character have nothing to do with the logical merits of the opponent's arguments or assertions.

Examples:

* "You can't believe Jack when he says the proposed policy would help the economy. He doesn't even have a job."
* "Candidate Jane's proposal about zoning is ridiculous. She was caught cheating on her taxes in 2003."

It is obvious, Campbell will not tolerate, the honest and decent people, hence, Neufeld and Johnson, formally of Elections BC, are gone. We have Craig James, temporally directing Elections BC. He is willing to do Campbell's dirty work for him. That is why Campbell picked him. So, it stands to reason, Phil Hochstein, a good friend of Campbell's, would lie, and also do Campbell's dirty work as well. There is no end to the crap, going on in this province. Campbell's corrupt sale of the BCR, has to be resolved. De Jongs blatant cover up, just doesn't cut it. Want him for a premier??? My x-mas wish is, we do blanket recalls after x-mas, and rid ourselves of, this revolting BC Liberal government. FOR EVER.

Just when you think, Campbell and the BC Liberals couldn't go any lower, they do. Enter, Mr. Hochstein, an out and out, pathetic liar. Do Hochstein and Campbell really think, the BC people don't see through them? They have to be, the chuckle of the month. Has anyone checked to see, if Hochsteins clients were given preference, for any government contracts? Seems some of ICBA's members, were totally unaware, of Hochsteins treachery to-wards the BC citizens. Many businesses profits are way down, because of the HST. I guess that's why, Hochstein, removed his clients names....too late though. Some of those businesses, don't deserve to be boycotted. However, Hochstein and Campbell's dirty tactics, leave BC citizens no choice. I canceled my bath room reno, because of the HST. I was told about the underground, and am having it done, at half the other cost, for cash.
