This Day In Clarkland: Parks Are Important, But...

ShouldWeRipOutThatNewLittlePocket
InDouglasParkVille

To the best of my knowledge the following, which was perched above a hit piece by Global TeeVee denigrating the fact that the City of Vancouver is trying to make sure parks are included where densification occurs, was not a joke:

Except that sometimes, when it comes to the BC Liberals, parks are actually less important than...

Wait for it...

Golf courses.

I kid you not.

Oh boy. That trip down memory lane reminds me of connections between somebody that had more money than God, was in serious legal trouble and needed favours from people who could help. The people who could help coincidentally also had serious legal troubles. Nothing money couldn't fix, of course.

Railroads and runways intersected. Harmony prevailed.

could some of Christy's developer buddies who donate money to her and her party have had plans for that land? must be. can't see when she last cared about housing given the homeless in this province, the lack of affordable housing the province has provided in this province in the last 15 years or increased the housing portion of welfare and disability. Does Christy think we're stupid or something? really some one ought to tell Christy we're on to her game. We know she doesn't care about kids, the disabled, seniors, the sick, etc. So if Christy is suddenly twitting about housing in the city of Vancouver, I'd suggest one of her buddies wants the land.

In any city which is increasing density, you need to increase park space. People need a place to go outside and exercise, get fresh air, and kids need a place to play. Not all kids can go to private schools which have nice grounds. Christy: some children need to play in public parks. No on believes your fake concern, no matter how much you smile.

You mean she had something left to sell??? Amazing!

More mega bucks coming Crusty and her mobs' way.

Pretty unfair wages and 'perks' for her with only Grade 12.

Another rigged election because the BC LIARS tell nothing but complete lies and the MSM is the enemy of the people.

Lew--

And sometimes harmony reigns on the fairways also...

From the course's 'About Us' page (feel free to skip to the last line):

"...Having been around since 1929, University Golf Club is a traditional golf course with long, narrow fairways and towering old growth trees. It is only minutes away from the city but it feels like you’re in the country and away from it all. The golf course is accessible to all levels of players and can be walked or driven at your leisure. With 9 minute tee time intervals, there is no rush for you to enjoy this scenic course. Now for some history…

In 1929, John Boyd obtained a 40 year government lease on 120 acres of University Endowment Lands and opened the public course named the Westward Ho! Golf Course. In 1960, Boyd handed over the lease to his oldest daughter, Lillian Baldwin, who held it until it expired in 1970. The province then operated the course from 1970-1985.

In 1985, a group of Vancouver businessmen headed by Robin Lecky and late Shaughnessy Professional Jack McLaughlin were awarded a 25 year lease on the land. Members of this group included sports commentator and promoter Greg Douglas and his partner Ron Gardner, UBC Director of Athletics, Bob Hindmarch, former Shaughnessy G&CC manager Bill Gillespie, engineer and developer Ivan Kraemer and chartered accountant Bill Humphries. The lease has since been controlled by David Ho..."

"Westward Ho! Golf Course." Mr. Boyd was a prophet.

Guess Premier Christy, twit in chief forgot to check with one of her real estate pals. Lots in that area must cost at least a mil and a half. She's concerned about affordable housing, well in most people's books a mil and 1/2 for a lot is millionaire heaven, not working class life.
