So far the most disappointing , non, news is that no police or army personnel have disobeyed orders to arrest, harass or dismantle legal protests to the citizens of the USA!
Tomorrows,Saturdays, No Kings protests could well be a sign of hope or defeat.
With that in mind, Canada must look forward to a very different future which will not be nice!

Despite the Hollywood history and the Disney renditions about American democracy, the USA was always a fascist state. Democracy was for the rich and powerful.
Then came Pearl Harbour and only then did the USA enter the 2nd World war, but only against Japan. The USA did not declare on Germany until a one Adolph Hitler declared war on the USA.
The war created the middle class and as the middle class was vying for power, taking power away from the rich and powerful.
After the Kent State massacre American politcans, well funded by the rich and powerful began to dismantle the middle class, perverting education and reigniting racial politics.
Trump is the result of this - corruption and vile deeds are the name of the game.
Sorry to say, the electronic media is the main source of disinformation, fake news and just plain lies. We see how it has perverted American politics and it is doing the same in Canada. Vancouver's ABC Party, destroying the city is in power due to huge funds for their electoral war chest and as we know, no one donates money to a politcal party without expecting a future return.
Sorry to say, metro Vancouver and the NDP are also doing the same, but on a smaller scale. Our passive mainstream media is allowing lies to be told and shielding the public from real news, damaging news about the gross mismanagement of provincial/civic politics.
The future is bleak as many in Canada still follow the clarion call of racism, scapegoating and blame.
I suspect that a lot of folks thought all this was "settled law" or some such thing, following Watergate, or Iran-Contra, or Savings-And-Loan, or (insert your favourite political brouhaha here) and then went back to sleep.

Republicans in general, and some Democrats in principle, take umbrage at comparisons of Trump’s regime to Hitler’s. They bristle at the thought that any regime could ever again approach the level (depth?) of crimes against humanity committed by Hitler’s regime and it’s therefore unfair to make that comparison.
But it must be said that there are many distinct parallels to be found between the evolution of the two regimes and it would be foolhardy to believe that the same recipe will not make the same soup. We ignore those parallels at our peril. This is a good example of one.
Not incidentally I notice that Ms Noem’s varied use of her substantive lips not only keeps her in the devil’s employ, but allows her to arrive at the scene of (her) crimes in style.
