...The Jennys wail

It's a bit of Mother's Day thing for C., who really, really, really likes them.

Me, I'm actually really looking forward to the opener...... Local DIY kid, and kinda/sorta 'diamonds-on-the-souls-of-his-PF-flyers' zimmeresquadoo sound-alike Jeremy Fisher.

Full report later....

It's at the cavernous Chan, so there are probably still plenty of good walk-ups available...

Post-show review..... The Jennys were in fine form, and their new stuff is great too, including the kid's song from Nicky's husband Grant.... Thus, the repertoire, especially when taken as individual set pieces, is beautiful....There's just one thing that I found a bit off-putting....Which is that there seemed to be a little bit too much restraint (which was probably exacerbated by the oh-so-proper Chan)....Thus, it was like every piece of fine china had its place such that everyone was e a little too worried about having things bang into each other...As a result, I felt like things never really got going as an actual 'show'....Still, if you are along the line of their Cross-Canada tour that rolls west-to-east over the next couple of weeks they are definitely worth seeing....As for Jeremy Fisher.....Well, it was almost the opposite....I mean, don't get me wrong, because I really dig the almost, but not quite, buskakatorian feel of his thing....Unfortunately, as he made clear, he's in the middle of recording at the moment and he just wasn't Tour ready....Thus, while his weird tuning debut of High School was interesting, it would have been nice if he was actually ready to do it....Sorry Mr. Fisher.....if it had been a dime (or even a sawbuck, or four) that you were singing your heart out to us for, it all would have been fine....Unfortunately, in this case me and mine laid out almost two hundred bucks to see you, which is important to remember in situations like this down the road regardless 'Gain' quotient.....OK?

I love the Wailing Jennys too. Ever heard of Barley Wik? Or the Be Good Tanyas?
