This Day In Snookland...California Dreamin'.

RunRunRunRunRunRunRunAway
OhhhhOhhhhOhhhOhhhEieEieEieEieEieVille

Where, of course, the dreams of some are more fabulist than others...

Meanwhile, in Snooklandia proper...

Sparkle Pony down!

As reported by, among others, Justine Hunter in the Globe:

Just how the B.C. government intends to extract a trillion dollars in economic activity from a new liquefied natural gas industry won’t be set in legislation until the fall, Finance Minister Mike de Jong says.

That means that final investment decisions from any of the proponents are not expected now until late in 2014 – at the earliest....

Gosh.

What could the Snooklandians possibly be runnin' away from on this one?

“It [revenue] doesn’t begin to flow until plants are constructed and the LNG conversion process begins.”

...Gee, thanks for that edifying comment Professor de Jong. Here I was, believing in alchemy and stuff...

-32 C here this morning. I hope they plan on leaving a bit of natural gas for us here in BC.

BC Government's Moose Appeal settled on Wednesday worth $2 million, coincidentally, the same amount as the BCTF failed award recognition.

speaking in California? Hey, she needs to speak in B.C. what is this? a rewind of the Arnie/el gordo love fest. Now its Jerry and Christy? Na, he can do better.

It is doubtful any of this will come to fruition. the lieberals are a little soft when it comes to business. if there are any LNG plants, B.C. won't be getting any money out of it. the tax incentives these corporations receive will simply cancel out the royalties. The workers, they'll come from overseas. Lets just forget about it and stay the way we are.

of course Christy could be down there trying to sell B.C. water to the Americans. California is having a water shortage problem. she might find out its more profitable to sell water than oil.

A major problem in setting political deadlines for mega-projects like this is that government greatly weakens its bargaining position with the other parties, whether companies or unions. They know government needs a deal and can be pushed to concede benefits.

The contrast between Christy before and Christy after couldn't be starker: first, two years of twirling batons and non-stop parading, then silence after the big, "That was easy!" day---I say the before Christy is the real one: you can see her enjoyment, more so the bigger the whopper.

The silent Christy seems so unlike her. So it's off to California to release that pent-up head full of fibbery, without specifics, just eye-popping whoppers.

Westminster parliamentary confidence is designed to get bills passed, even if we have to have an election-cum-referendum for each and every one---designed to legislate with timeliness and continuity. Why? Because in the real world things tend to pile up otherwise. I'm afraid behind our silenced Assembly is a pile so huge as to embarrass even the Queen of Whoppers---I mean, she might not be able to pull it off.

She's runnin' from us here in BC.

She's probably trying to find a California market for our BC-grown oranges...

I'm not sure why we need a T R I L L I O N dollars in LNG money when BC is swimming in cash from all the northeast coal that asia buys from us.

Aren't we being a little too greedy?

Anon-Above--

Absolutely as Norm Farrell has pointed out repeatedly, with cold, hard real numbers....

There are actually Sparkle Ponies aplenty, for real, right here and right now...

We just have to stop giving them away for free to those who need them least.
