Teachers' v. CClark (And Friends)...The Day Ron Got A Wee Bit Too Obvious.

"It’s difficult to overstate what a shattering blow the B.C. Court of Appeal’s ruling Thursday on classroom working conditions is to the B.C. Teachers’ Federation. The union didn’t just lose. It got thumped in unequivocal fashion...

{snip}

...The union will not win at the country’s highest court. It would be better off negotiating terms of a peace accord with the government."

That is all.

Well done Ross K....and as for the not so great CKNW98..

Drex and Linda Steele...After 4:00 PM today...Drex and Linda not being so up on older BC political history didn't have much to say on the Supreme court ruling...sooo..

They brought un experts on the topic to give listeners background info from the beginning..

First up was Jordan Bateman..paraphrasing here..

(The NDP left the BC Libs a poison pill, ..libs had no choice but to rip up the contract..teachers didn't win right to set classroom size and composition, teachers won the right to bargain and bargain only)

Then they brought in another so-called unbiased expert...Keith Baldrey...

Need more...Then it was Chris Galais' regular afternoon visit to NW..

And my gawd..Chris Galais said...paraphrasing again..

(It will takes years to implement the supreme court ruling)

Baited breath starts at 4:07 pm

Balderdash about 4:47 pm..

CTV reported the SCC decision at 6:39 pm..

The bash education beat goes on..

TAKE YEARS TO IMPLEENT? PERHAPS NOT. THERE IS AN ELECTION COMING UP AND ONE THING PEOPLE HAVE BEEN UNHAPPY ABOUT IS THE SCHOOL SYSTEM. IF THE B.C. LIEBERALS DRAG THEIR FEET, PARENTS MIGHT JUST NOT DRAG THEIRS AND GO TO THE POLLS AND VOTE FOR WHAT THEY THINK IS BEST FOR THEM AND THEIR FAMILIES.

IN G.B. AND THE U.S.A. THEY WENT "RIGHT' TO STAGE THEIR "REVOLT". IN B.C. WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN.

Not a great day for the kids who have been denied a public education for the past 14 years where school taxes are tacked onto property tax assessment rolls. For the past 14 years the BC Liberals, Christy Clark in particular, has forced parents to pull their children out of an underfunded public system and put them into independent schools. The upper crust St. George's have flourished. Public schools closed to balance BC Liberals fictitious budget restraints based on 95% occupancy ... King Edward Mall (VSB) owned to be sold off ... and what about the public school's abilities to provide a place of education for the 1,000,000 new residents that Premier Christy Clark continues to crow about, arriving in Vancouver. Morning and afternoon rush hours are being clogged with the another pet project of Premier Christy Clark, 'drive your children to the public school of your choice' across town or to a different municipality' There goes the GHG stats, which are not included in any beating of the chests of the BC Liberals.

And would ipp contracts site c and Massey be stopped also -like HST PETITION.win?

Constant spouting of"Crooked Hillary" by the Trumpets seemed to work for the Republicans. Maybe if the opposition use the genuine "Crooked Christ" mantra it will wake up BC citizens.

I'm inwardly pleased that Ron Obvious isn't a lawyer and I'm not his client facing a murder rap

Today we fight

After a devastating Tuesday night the SCC ruling lifted me. Having spent my last 15 years of teaching in inner city schools I have to say this is a sweet victory. But yes, let's not forget the lost generation of kids who were robbed of the resources they needed to succeed. We cannot stop fighting the "power"wherever and whenever we encounter it.Thank you Ross, Grant,NVG, Scotty on Denman, and all the rest of you who refuse to lie down to oppression, greed, racism, sexism, political corruption and continue to monitor and report!

There is no victory until there is change. Nothing has happened.
Save your enthusiasm for the fight ahead.

LG is exactly right.

In fact the imaginary $100 million dollar bone is nothing but the beginning of the retrenchment offensive.

Interesting prognostication from Ron Obvious - DO you suppose that he decided, since he now has a lawyer in the family, that he's somehow qualified to second guess the Supremes.
Sheesh!
