HST Referendum Result....Is It A Class War?

Update 11:30am Friday: Look, when you hear all the codswallop (that has already started) about how all this chaos and uncertainty is going to be a horrible, terrible very bad series of days for business, please remember that there is only one group of folks to blame for said uncertainty (and it is NOT the voting public)...Because if The Birdman had been doing his actual job for the last six months a real, fully inclusive, Plan B would have started, immediately, at 11:16am this morning...Remember it has been he, as FINANCE MINISTER, who refused to tell us whether or not the PST exemptions would return if we voted YES....OK?...
Double-Secret Probation Update: Friday 2:30pm....Meanwhile, while the LINO's burn, Mr. Baldrey fiddles with (meaningless) numbers just as Ian Reid whips out a Stradivarius.
____

Never mind the aggregate 55/45.....

How about the ridings?

Van Kingsway (Ponies)...72% Extinguish!....

WestVan (Unicorns)....65% TaxPeopleNotCorporations!

I figure that, when The Birdman is done with his Presser (will he now tell us, specifically, about the fate of PST exemptions?)....Ms Clark will pick.....Ponies!!!

____
Ledgies and Watercarrier say it breaks Lib vs Dipper by riding...But here's the thing...Huge Dipp swing in pop vote...Throw in 5% Cummins siphon and it would appear that ClarkCampbell govt may be doomed....
Here's a question worth pondering....Which current and/or former Campbell/Clark government Cabinet members will already be heading for Drunk Island by noon o'clock today.
Finally....Hey!....Where'd all those stories about the massively redacted BC Ferries FOI release go?...And here I thought all of the cost increases being passed along to us and/or the people who will be working less or losing their jobs were based purely on fuel and salaries...

Considering the ad campaign was $40 million dollars to $1 million...

It`s a landslide, Liberal versus NDP....HMMM, 65 ridings dumped the HST..

You are correct, wealthy voters versus the masses...

The masses prevailed today

Yup.

And ponies are cheaper than unicorns, and not quite as flashy in a free BMW taxbreak kinda of way...So, I figure that's the way Ms. Clark will go.

Hey, Grant...Notice how they buried the massive BC Ferries FOI redaction underneath all this this morning?

Hahn is toast....How on earth can it hurt BC Ferries to tell how much they spent?

Confidentiality agreement????

Even the big TV stations tell what they spend to advertise on sporting events, including the Olympics...

Confidentiality...Bunmph!

Shame!

Gosh Grant--

I shudder to think what a toast-laden golden parachute for Mr. Hahn is going to cost us....

Assuming, of course, we ever find out.

(what the cost is, I mean)

Interesting....Falcon just spoke...

Falcon stated that the PST/GST will be returned to its former self on March 1st/2013....

Isn`t that 2 months before the NEXT scheduled election?

Does that mean the Christy Clucking Clark will hang on by her fingernails until then?..Mandate, what damn mandate!

Is that their election platform?

Waiting that long to remove the HST will destroy the BC Liberals for a generation...

Cheers

Why wait? Bring on the election!

Grant--

And does this mean that we will still be paying, essentially, HST rates AFTER we have paid the $1.6 billion bribe back to Diamond Jim Flaherty?

______
Anon--

Ms. Clark and, in particular, the folks riding her will not likely commit either way just yet...They have to find a polling wedge issue first...I would expect that they will very quickly pivot and start slagging the teacher's any second now....

Hey...

I just heard a 'Bob from Burnaby' on SSara...

Ha!

Could have sworn I heard The Dean bail out the Preem on the 'Fall Election' question by elbowing in on a JFowlie follow-up during her empty and vacuous afternoon Presser....

Good to see somebody can still keep 'The Club's' pecking order intact when required

Don't you realize corporations are people, people who have jobs?

LOL

RossK said...

Anon-Above--

Perhaps you would like to explain your pretzel logic.

Specifically, explain how, specifically, those people with the jobs benefit from paying the taxes those corporations they work for benefit from doing so.

And before you respond, please ask yourself the following...Which provincial economy is BC's more like - Ontario's or Alberta's?

I was kinda joking with you.

I could argue job security in that the workers have more value by keeping the tax load off the books... I could argue that it is better to show people who demand government services the true price tag so they wouldn't demand so much...

Or I could just shut my piehole. The comment I made was in reference to an American in Mitt Romney. Speaking of Americans, they're starting to realize corporations aren't all that interested in job security or them for that matter: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7376840n&tag=cbsnewsSectionsArea.4

Thanks for the clarification Anon--

Apologies, didn't quite get the joke, but I got the Romney ref (which, of course, some on the whackadoodle fringe are arguing is actually true).

I agree with the Corp thing...many of their cash piles are already massive...Given that, it is not clear to me how making them even larger will spur reinvestment that they are not doing that right now.
