When, precisely, will a certain senior Club member be trumpeting the story of a local citizen journalist (a.k.a. 'idiot blogger') who helped change provinical policy on IPP's for the better?....
And finally, why, exactly, do major proMedia outlets, and that includes the MoCo, not state, up-front and explicitly, Ms. Christy Clark's ties to SNC-Lavelin when they bring her on to read the 'Iron Snowbird in Red Riot Act'....

Keith thinks Port Moody might be pushed closer to the B.C. Liebercons does he? Must be eating some of our new type brownies. Port Moody is referred by some as the "new Kitsalno". these young people are being pushed out there because they can't afford Vancouver/Burnaby. They're paying approx. $600K for a condo, next thing the area will need a lot of new schools. They'll remember how they were in portables for most of their education because of the B.C. Liebercons and they'll remember how the price of housing got so high, even if they had two good incomes they couldn't afford to live in Vancouver/Burnaby.
Keith is dreaming in tech. if he thinks a few secondary homes in Belcarra are going to swing a seat, because those people will be voting in their home areas and in the riding their vacations homes are. its unfortunate some families won't be able to afford to keep their summer homes, but really, has anyone looked at the homeless and those spending over 50% of their income to keep a roof over their heads. Its hard to feel sorry for them, when you're living in a 2 bedroom condo with 3 kids.
Keith, Wilkinson and other msm are bleating about first world problems. OMG, I can't afford my summer house anymore. What is the world coming to. Next they'll come for the $500 bottle of scotch, the $100 cigars, what is the world coming to.
People have to move all the time because they can't afford their principle homes because of illness, lay offs, family status changes. Do not expect the rest of society to support your vacation homes. Seniors who live in high property tax areas can defer them.
e.a.f.,it would be interesting to find out how the owners of those few cabins actually acquired their land in the Belcarra region. Before the regional district obtained the land for their park, it was privately held. At one time there were squatters occupying many cabins on both sides of Burrard Inlet all the way up Indian Arm and along the south arm.
Up until the late sixties there were squatters living in cabins below Capital Hill. Municipal councils wanted evict them, allegedly because of unsanitary conditions, but the land belonged to CP or CN Rail. The railway was not interested in taking action because it would cost them money.
Across from Belcarra is Cates Park. There were several squatters living in cabins even after the park acquisition. Malcolm Lowery, author of Under the Volcano, lived there for quite some time. RG

A. 8:27 a.m. ah, you are old or know history. Even remember the cabin Malcolm Lowery lived in Remember the squatter cabins, remember the fight over trying to get them to move. I do know some in the 1950s who held cabins there, used boats to get there, but had purchased the land. the rest, never knew who owned it. Would be interesting to know how the families came to own the land. Perhaps they just think they do.
If an Indigenous group wanted to further land claims, they could have a go at it. The land most likely was taken from them to begin with. An article recent explained the land owned by timber west was originally owned by E & N Railways, who was "gifted" the land in exchange for the railway, but the land had belonged to the Indigenous people in the various areas the railway went through. The government simply "expropriated" it to give to the railway.
