Jumping Off The Trump Train...

All kinds of very, very finest-of-the-finest folks are jumping off the Trump Train as it slows to a crawl to enter the inauguration station.

And Driftglass is keeping track of the 'former' members of the administration as they attempt to melt into the reasonable, resisting Republican crowd while hobbling away on ever so slightly sprained ankles.

But what of the enablers who have been shovelling nitrous-laden coal into the train's boilers, hand-over-digital-fist, from the very beginning?

Super-finest folks like, say, the good Mr. Zuckerberg?

Well, Marina Hyde of the Guardian weighs in brilliantly on that one:

...It was nice to hear from Mark Zuckerberg, who grandly announced he’d blocked Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. This is not so much a case of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted as doping the horse, whipping it into a frenzy, encouraging it to bolt, fostering a world in which humans are subjugated by horses, monetising every snort and whinny, allowing the very existence of “humans” and “horses” to become just one of a bunch of competing opinions, and then – only when that one particular horse has outlived its usefulness and seems destined for the glue factory – gently closing the stable door with a self-satisfied little “click”. That said, I very much enjoyed the photos of Zuckerberg’s wife enjoying a carefree surf in Hawaii, presumably taken as a man claiming to be prepared for a violent death was surfing on Nancy Pelosi’s desk...

Hmmmm...

Perhaps Ms. Chan, Mr. Zuckerberg and the Pelosi desk stomper will one day body surf the crowd, together, at an Ariel Pink concert.

Or some such thing.

It’s the final stop for the Trump train.

The New York Daily News on Wednesday used its cover to illustrate the looming end of President Donald Trump’s “off-the-rails reign.”

The newspaper previewed Congress’ formal certification of the Electoral College vote — and President-elect Joe Biden’s victory — with this front page, headlined “Jumping Off The Crazy Train.”

Not that I believe organizations such as Zukerbergs ought to act as censors, but there is a "norm" which society in general agrees to. Trump went beyond that and Zukerberg's company did nothing. In my opinion, Zukerberg just didn't care, never has, never will. Cancelling Trump's account at this late date may well have been at the "advise" of lawyers. Zukerberg is one of Trump's biggest enablers and a lot of others just like trump. He gave Trump the platform to do his Gobells routine for years upon years. Has any one asked Z. why now and why not 3 years ago or back in Nov? (O.K. now we know they've had the tweeter letter on the news) All of those conditions existed years ago. must be legal advise.

In my opinion CNN has also contributed to this by having a number of Trump and his supporters on, giving them a platform, treating them like they were telling the truth, ignoring issues which ought to have been reported on.

What happened 6 Jan. is of no surprise to me. Once Trump started with the Make America Great Again, I knew we had the American Hitler. The press failed in its duty to report and report and report. Usually it was blogs who reported, then MSNBC, with Rachell Maddox and then finally the MSM would get with the agenda. However, the general American public needs to be held accountable also. while Trump was running his racist mouth off and caging children in concentration camps did you see politicians, by the hundreds or thousands protesting? Did you see those "good Christians protesting"? Did you see the general public protesting? NO, No, No.

Gobells got it correct the first time and Trump and his ilk simply picked up the idea and ran with it. In my opinion, this isn't over. Trump hasn't finished and neither have his followers.

Thankfully we live in Canada and our political system is different.

Mulvaney – Toomey on the Sunday morning hot air and serious faces shows expressing dismay at what has occurred.

Rioters asking for forgiveness because they were “ caught up in the moment” despite travelling from Idaho to get “ caught up in the moment” with surely more to come.

When the 2022 mid terms come around it won’t be about jumping from the train but “what train”, and extensive repairs to the underside of the bus.
