Is Something Happening Here?

He'sBeenUnderOurSkin

Something seems to be happening here.

But is it the right thing?

First, there was the news that Mr. Carney has rescinded a number of the retaliatory tariffs on US'ian goods coming into Canada.

And then we heard that Carney let Mr. Trump know that we'd be kinda/sorta/maybe happy to be a part of the so-called Golden Dome.

Now, after the latest US'ian Ambassador started making noises about how we could have the lowest of the low of all the tariffs in all of the liberated lands, Mr. Carney let on that tariffs were discussed when he met with a bipartisan(ish) herd of Congress Critters, today, in Ottawa.

Imagine that!

______
Of course,
the howler monkeys are gonna howl...But isn't this the thing we actually elected Carney to do?...I reckon the proof might be in the coming G7 summit pudding that will be baked in the Albertalands in mid-June.
Heckfire - I'd even be willing to take reasonably short odds that Carney will push for some sort of Resolution Dogs-type announcement in the days before the G7 meeting commences for all kinds of reasons, including the anti-successionist deflector spike-spin that would ensue for the duration...
And I would not discount that bipartisanish thing...This is something that Carney is doing that Mr. Trump is incapable of doing, except for the tragi-comic, non-congressional case of Gretchen Whitmer...Why does this matter?...Because those US'ian midterms are out there now, lurking, just over the horizon.
Good Ol' Cross Border Can-Con Earworm in the subheader?...This!

It seems the Laurentian Elites are pining to go return wintering in Florida. Too bad.

Carney won on a Tsunami of anti Trump rhetoric and if Carney caves, which I think he is beginning to, the next Parliament maybe very short indeed.

The "Wee P"'s Cons picked up a seat today in Newfoundland after a judicial recount and the Libs are three seats sort of a majority.

If Carney sells out Canada all that Canadian patriotism my converge to se that Carney is made the new Trudeau and be radio active politically.

The next test is cancelling the F-35 program and if Carney has crossed into the "dark lands" with Trump, he won't.

As Carney continues to make small blunders, such as having former Mayor Moonbeam as Housing Minister or not tabling a budget, I think the public will begin to treat the Liberals as they did in December 2024.

The NDP have their own ills and I do not see resurrection of the party anytime soon.

The Greens, who are not really Green are waiting for M.A.I.D, which leaves the "Wee P" and his maple MAGA (unless they implode as well) gang the only choice for many Canadians.

Canada is walking a perilous road these days, with Quislings to the right of us, traitors to the left of us and the utterly incompetents in front of us, into the valley of despair goes the Canadian voter.

While I can understand the reluctance to bluster or threaten, Carney needs to provide a clearer "roadmap" for where he is going and how he will take us with him.
I am hoping the Throne Speech and the daily speeches in Parliament will provide more information.
I get the impression Carney hopes to negotiate a soft landing for Canada in the next few months, to ease the impact of US tariffs on the Ontario and Quebec economies. That would give him time to work on expanding markets toward Europe and Asia. But I'm not sure about any of this right now.

Interesting. I try to remain hopeful as voted Liberal for first time in 50 years.

The problem with Trump is that he is suffering from the onset of dementia and his behavior is extremely erratic. We also must consider that Trump is the vehicle for the slow motion coup d'etat by the MAGA Republicans to gain complete control of government.

This extremely dangerous situation means Trump can prominence this and the ruling MAGA's can alter everything at will.

The Republicans know they cannot survive the midterms and Trump knows he cannot stay as president if the Democrats gain control of the Senate and Congress.

So, watch out for phase Three of the coup d'etat when violent false flag events happen and Trump impose military law, suspension of Habeas Corpus and the indefinite postponement of the mid term elections.

If this scenario plays out and the military steps in (remember they swear allegiance to the constitution and not the president, will the troops obey their commanders or will be have a mass mutiny. Then fun really happens as civil war will break out only this time both sides will have nukes.

I was going to vote Conservative just to see Trudeau get the boot but then Trump and his insane comments happened and I voted for Carney.

We will see in the Throne Speech to see what is going to happen and if it is a Laurentian Elite sort of speech, then kiss Carney and the Liberals good-bye as it will be an extremely tough parliament coming up and maybe an election a year from now.

With two parents who had dementia (possibly smokers dementia plus repetitive head trauma) I can spot those suffering from many degrees of dementia and Trump displays this well.

He is president because he is the Republican's Quisling to complete the slow motion coup d'etat. So many republicans are now so into the "glue" so to speak, that they cannot turn back.

This more than worrisome because if there is a revolt and I daresay a civil war (50/50 at this point in time), the states involved will have access to nuclear weapons and as we all know zealots do not care.

For the republicans anf many of their supporters if the Democrats win, there will be jail time or worse.

The trigger point for this showdown is coming much sooner than anyone thinks and it is called FEMA because the Trump/Musk dual has completely neutered this bureaucracy and hurricane season is about to start and if we see a hurricane with the destructive power as last years Helen, there will be no federal help; leading to the bankruptcy of several "Red" states. This could lead to massive civil unrest, unleashing the American military to do a job they are ill-equipped to do, leading to unrest in the Army and Navy.

As the American social fabric is largely woven on layers and layers of myth and Hollywood History, it could all unravel fast, very fast.

One wonders if Carney and his Liberals understand this or are they lost in the Canadian myopia, so encouraged by Trudeau the Younger. The Conservatives are completely lost, banging the drum to be like the county that is unraveling before our eyes.

The clock ticking and from my view it ain't good as we are at about to witness the end of empire, just south of the 49th.

I did not switch because I have concluded that my Dipper MP, Don Davies, is a good one. That said, it amazes me how little has been written about how the Canadian electorate, progressive division, made a deliberate, rational decision to go with the horse that had the best chance of getting us to the finish line least scathed. In other words, I don't read the election as a collapse of the NDP but rather a victory driven by the progressive electorate doing what needed to be done.
