This just in, via Reuters*:
Royal Dutch Shell Plc and its LNG Canada partners have once again pushed back the timing of a decision on building a British Columbia liquefied natural gas export (LNG) terminal, the latest setback for the Canadian province's energy ambitions.
LNG Canada, whose participants also include PetroChina Co Ltd, Mitsubishi Corporation and Kogas, cited global industry challenges, including capital constraints, for requiring more time prior to making a final investment decision.
The proposed project, which would be located on British Columbia's rugged northern coastline, was one of the front runners in a now slowing race to build Canada's first LNG export terminal.
The venture had originally planned to make its final investment decision in the first half of 2016. In February it pushed the deadline to the end of the year.
In its statement on Monday, the group said they could not confirm when the decision would be made. (bit.ly/29EfvKl)...
Well, it would appear, based on all that blather from Marky Mark's Klout Klub, etcetera, that this can only mean one thing...
Shell has clearly become a wholly-owned subsidiary of John Horgan and the BCNDP!
______
*And predicted by GrantG, like, ages ago.
As for all that dorm room and 'seeing things' stuff...Well...You know.
Of course, never ending corporocraptic delays in saying 'No' means that superfine local proMedia folks like Ron Obvious and The Keef will be able to pretend that the LNG game is still actually on next spring...
Meanwhile, in PAB-Bot Ville...via BMackin and The Tyee.

Some folks came across a collapsed man in a downtown parking lot recently.
When they called 911 the dispatcher told them to go to the nearby Paragon-owned Edgewater Casino and get their defibrillator.
When the good samaritans got to the casino door here, according to Global's Jon Azpri, is what happened:
"...First, a casino doorman refused to hand over the device. A manager also refused, saying the victim wasn’t on casino property..."
Gosh.
When Paragon finishes building it's massive Casino-Industrial Complex that will take over the entire area will a citizen in dire need require a fist full of chips to get their help?
______
And, just in case you've forgotten...The breech-birthing of said 'complex' was helped along by a wee bit of immaculately conceived cronyism, BC Liberal style.

320 jobs per month generated during the last eight years of GordCo, Inc. and Clarklandia.
Which, as you might expect, puts us way, way behind the other big population provinces:
As Integrity BC, who did the analysis above, has pointed out...
At this rate it will take Two Hundred and Fifty-Nine years to get to our fine premier's million job promise.
Pretty much puts to rest Ron Obvious' claim that the Wizards of Clarklandia have unquestionably worked wonders for our economy.
Or some such thing.
______
Of course, Mr. Obvious of the Globe has also written that the abject LNG failure means, essentially, nothing given all that unquestioned economic success...Seriously.

Vancouver Real Estate In Clarkland...Does The VSun Even Know A Limited Hangout When They See One?

From the very bottom of Joanne-Lee Young and Rob Shaw's recent Vancouver Sun piece on the 'critics' response to the Wizards of Clarklandia's "pretend-to-do-something-but-not-really-anything-actually" release of 'foreign' buyers of Lotuslandian dirt and sky in June:
...The Liberal government’s abrupt release of data marked yet another shift in its position on a hot topic file that’s expected to play a prominent role in the May 2017 provincial election.
Just a few months ago, de Jong has said he’d need between six months and a year to analyze the foreign buyer data before drawing conclusions, but Thursday he admitted the public wasn’t willing to wait that long before seeing the data.
It also marked a continued softening of government’s long-held reluctance to intervene in the housing market amid intense public pressure.
The Liberals had at one point all but ruled out a tax on foreign purchases in the real estate market, arguing the government has long encouraged foreign investment in the provincial economy.
Now, de Jong is willing to analyze the impact of a foreign buyer’s tax and whether it would simply generate money for the government or actually reduce foreign housing purchases.
Premier Christy Clark has said all options are on the table, and last week revoked the real estate industry’s ability to police itself amid concerns of unethical practices among some realtors.
The government is also now seriously entertaining Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson’s proposal for a vacant home tax, which last year the premier appeared to dismiss with a counter-argument that cities should reduce red tape and speed up approvals for new housing developments.
So.
What, exactly, is the point that Ms. Young and Mr. Shaw are trying to make by telling us all these things/options on the table that the Wizards of Clarklandia are now suddenly 'willing to analyze' and 'seriously entertain'?
________
I'll save my take for all this for the comments.
Hey...If you haven't been over to Laila's today yet, head on over and read her great piece on the very real human toll of this disgraceful bus pass clawback from our fellow citizens that need (and deserve) our help most.

This Day In Clarkland...Polakcisms On Parade (Campsite Edition)

Why haven't GordCo, Inc. and/or the Wizards of Clarklandia built campsites for the rubes?
Well....
According to our fine Environment minister Ms Polak, in her 'OpEd' published in the journal of PAB-Bottia earlier today, it's the fault of those darned tree huggers:
...The ultimate solution is to increase the supply of campsites, but that will take some time. Availability of land in high-demand areas is one challenge but, as well, for everyone who wants to see expanded campsites for recreational purposes, you have another person who says, “No, I don't want you to cut down more trees.”...
Gosh.
I'm sure glad Ms. Polak cleared that wee little matter up for everyone.
_____
And, no, as snarky as this post was meant to be, I wasn't making that part about the 'OpEd' label that was affixed to this propaganda release from the wizards behind the government comminications curtain...Seriously.
And how many fulltime Park Rangers do we have compared to, say, fulltime PR wizards at the moment?

This Day In Clarkland: Nevermind The Bollocks...
...Here Comes Another Cable Ferry Breakdown.
From the MoCo:
Another breakdown for the controversial new B.C. cable ferry connecting two Gulf Islands to Vancouver Island has some calling for a contingency plan.
The Baynes Sound Connector was out of service for a few hours again last week, just as people tried to reach Denman and Hornby islands for the long weekend.
"Anything that might give people a bad impression or make it difficult for them to get there, it's really going to make them, I guess you could say, less likely to make the effort to take a holiday on Denman or Hornby," said Frank Frketich, chair of the Denman Island-Hornby Island Ferry Advisory Committee...
And what does BC Ferries have to say?
Well...
You know:
...BC Ferries says the Baynes Sound Connector has mostly performed well...
We await Scotty from Denman's follow-up exposition in the comments.

This Day In Clarkland...Air Christy vs. Air Canada?

Our fine premier went to Kelowna for Canada Day.
And, apparently, as noted by Bob Mackin, the very fine $38 million dollar a year PAB-Bot Army told us all about a Clarklandian photo-op in Prospera Place before it even happened.
Also according to Mr. Mackin, it would appear that Ms. Clark may have hired a private jet for the trip:
Gosh.
If Air Christy was flying today, does that mean that the videographer and/or some other member of the entourage has got something against Air Canada?
Or.
Is it possible that the boss herself has some kind of aversion to Jazz?

UPDATE, Monday July 4th: I've heard from a reader who was in the Kelowna Airport on Friday...According to this reader, who has been right about a whole lot of stuff in the past, Ms. Clark was coming off an Air Canada flight from Vancouver...Thus, the best on-the-ground evidence available indicates that Air Christy was not flying that day...Looks like somebody else was flying private that day at that time...We got it wrong and we apologize (this time).

But now it can do the following as well...
Which is pretty darned cool (that Smithers number I mean).
Sounds like it just might be time for another 'Northern World Tour'.
This time with music!
_______
Those numbers are just for the last three weeks or so...Without any real plugging/blog-flogging (i.e. the numbers can be pushed when the pods/tunes are moved up on the main page daily, which is what I used to do with the old 'Sunday Set Lists')...Regardless, I'm always amazed by how many folks actually push the button on all this short attention span warbling... Which, I suppose, is something that could/should be put to good use from a #bcpoli talk point of view if I could just get my act together...
By way of comparison...Linear type stuff gets ~30-50,000 page views per month depending on the extent of the keyboard poundification in any given 4 week period...Still F-troop list stuff, but interesting nonetheless given the increasing fragmentation/atomization of the bloggodome/tubez/twitmachine, not to mention the fact that I suck at phone traffic - probably because of the ancient lay-out and the purposeful avoidance of the Book of Faces.
