Paul Willcocks thinks that the boomerang smear has gone through a forced evolution and developed legs:
"My first reaction was to dismiss the BC Teachers' Federation defamation suit against Gordon Campbell as just the latest development in their tiresome feud.
But then I read the union's statement of claim, and its case looks pretty good. The union may not win, but it has a good chance of getting the issue before a judge, and the premier on the witness stand."
Now wouldn't that be interesting, to see Mr. Campbell on the stand and forced to answer, under oath, a point blank question from a lawyer asking him why he called, with malice aforethought, a press conference to accuse the BCTF and the NDP of having a secret and duplicitous plan to throw our kids out on the street before the end of the school year.
Mr. Willcocks also makes a reasonably convincing case that it would be best for everyone if they could all just bury the hatchet. Unfortunately, that's a tough one for the BCTF to pull off at the moment given that the axe is currently poised above their collective (not bargaining) necks.
