I'll Take Two Of What You're Havin'...

So, last time out I mentioned my new-found fondness for the Drive-By Truckers, which led to a deluge.

Including a couple of lines thrown out into the ionosphere by BigCityLib that sent me wandering down a tangle of picaresque Boolean lanes leading straight to a place inhabited by Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit:

Above is Jason's tune called 'Goddamn Lonely Love'.

Which is a fantastic testament to, as Bruce sometimes likes to call it, The A-Minor Masterpiece'.

Which is a thing I love.

For the melancholy of it all, lonely or otherwise

Because for me memory and melancholia are closely linked.

In a good way.

Like this......

Christmas of grade eight I got the most fantastic present a 13 yr old boy bent on speed could ever want.

A new, shiney-white Baycrest.

Ten speed.

Which really was pretty good for speed.

What it was not so good for, however, was bike tag.

Endless games of it, and other things too, in the Super-Valu parking lot up the street and around the corner from the house where I grew up.

Goddamn, I miss that parking lot.

OK?

_____
And just so you don't think that everything Mr. Isbell and friends does is all weepin', cheatin' and hurtin', check this out.
And just so my Mom doesn't give me too hard a time, I know it was actually a Shop Easy parking lot, but I like the 'sound' of Super-Value better.
