What, Exactly, Is Mr. Eby Trying To Tell Us?

(Follow-up post is....Here.)

Look.

I realize that I haven't been paying really close attention the last 12 weeks or so.

But I'm really starting to get confused about how the current government plans to deal with a Whaling Industry that was, in my opinion, incubated by the previous government and its deal breaker partners who helped breech birth the local Lotuslandian Casino Industrial Complex from the get go.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks.

Might I suggest that it is Mr. Eby who requires the enlightenment?

Provided by way of a public inquiry to determine the extent of the problem he seems unable to get his head around otherwise.

Tweeting that the problem he couldn’t solve previously is even bigger than he thought is not a sign he is control of the situation; which might encourage the bad guys, but not the general citizenry.

Lew--

Point taken...

I just thought that, maybe, this was a gentle pushback on the party line.

Watched the C.B.C. 6 p.m. news and they reported the "take"/"laundering" was approx. $1BILLION VIA THE CASINOS AND ONE BILLION VIA THE REAL ESTATE MARKET IN B.C. Now that changes it to $2B of laundered money each and every year. The comment was made, the government of the day, "B.C. Lieberals" step up, were "willfully ignorant". The news also led me to understand Mr. Eby may now be open to an inquiry.

My theory is, not everyone is keen on an inquiry especially if it were to be a judicial enquiry and everyone working on it was from outside the province. Well no one in B.C. has clean hands because those casinos, they financed a lot of things, including charities, fire halls, etc. One could say most of us benefited from the money laundering, one way or another right down to construction workers who were building the new developments. Not knowingly, but ........

Perhaps Mr. Eby was simply waiting for this to build, if there was opposition to an inquiry. so first we have one figure regarding what might have been laundered via the casinos, then it goes up to $700M, then it goes up to a BILLION via the casinos and then it goes up to a BILLION FOR CASINOS AND A BILLION FOR REALESTATE. Now it gets to the point perhaps the tax paying citizens of the province might be getting a tad uncomfortable about all of this. If I were Mr. Eby and Mr. Horgan I'd start that inquiry some time before the next election and perhaps just before the results of the Speaker instigated inquiry come out. Could have a real damaging effect on the B.C. Lieberals and the Greens wouldn't be strong enough yet to form government. Hey its a plan which would work for me.

if Mr. Eby is getting push back from within the party, the bigger the number gets the more ammunition he has. You can explain a billion but a couple of billion, I was one of those who didn't think an inquiry would be necessary, but then the figure went over $700M and I wanted an inquiry.

Now is a good time also, because in unrelated matters, China isn't looking so good to many Canadians, and the money laundered was drug money, much of it from the Fent. trade and that comes from China. Oh, that reminds me, the C.B.C. reported Mr. Eby had spoken to two federal Cabinet ministers regarding the matter, some thing about new laws required. Yes, this just might work for the federal Liberals also.

The new Federal Liberal Burnaby candidate is a former BC Liberal MLA.
