You may have heard about this crazy, fact-free lawsuit from the indicted attorney general of Texas that is seeking to overturn the presidential election result in four critical swing states - Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia.
But what you may not know is the following, as reported by Adam Liptak and Jeremy Peters of the NYTimes:
...The lawsuit, filed by the Republican attorney general of Texas and backed by his G.O.P. colleagues in 17 other states and 106 Republican members of Congress, represents the most coordinated, politicized attempt to overturn the will of the voters in recent American history...
106 members of Congress publicly support this thing?
Gosh.
.
It would appear that a whole lot of lickspittleian congress critters are plenty scared of the very base they have helped coddle, lo these many years.
_____
And do not forget that the fine folks running the Lincoln Project helped build that base.
As Keith notes in the comments, the number is now 126.

Yes Mr. K. a very troubling turn of events. I find it very bizarre they would go to these lengths. Well, it’s been bizarre the whole way through with this trump thing so... The first few court challenges I thought odd but, okay, I guess he’s gotta give it a shot. When those went down in well deserved flames I hoped that was it. Those challenges lead to almost fifty more.
Not to mention the Twilight Zone press conferences and trumps rantings in front of a camera. I have wondered who is on the other side of those cameras and what they see and think.
Now we have this challenge brought by the 106. Who woulda thought. How can those people go out in public? Where did they dream all this up and who’s giving the go ahead? If any one of the far too many weird and horrible things trump and the republicans have said or done had been done by a Dem the sound and the fury from republicans and supporters would be like the Orc army charging forth.
One of the only good things to come out of this is the fact that the courts and the law have batted these attempts to thwart the law and the voters intentions. In particular republican judges and the republican dominated US Supreme Court. So far at least they have not bent the law to human will.
Isn't this kind of behavior almost like treason? Allowing politicians to get away with this type of behavior is another thing it's all beyond me. It may well be leaking across the border too with no repercussions!
It’s now up to 126 of them.
Trump got 12 million more votes in 2020 than 2016, so they are probably hedging their bets. If he is a force in the cult for a few years to come they are on the good with him and the cult voters. If not, they will conveniently lose any knowledge of him, as they collectively did after Dubya left the states in a shambles for Obama to figure out. All a matter of timing to get it figured out before the 2022 mid-terms.
Ironically, many of the 126 are trying to throw out their own successful elections while trump who doesn’t give a toss what they do but will hold whatever he can dream up against them if it suits, sends out e-mails wholesale raising funds to steer his way to spend as he see fits, the continuation of the original “fraud” grift with 40 or so days left in which to fleece the sheep.
Theatre of the absurd and the punters are falling for it.
Apologies for being slow everyone - have been dealing with a Troll problem for a couple of weeks...
___________
Graham--
A very good point about the courts so far.
But.
If Mr. McConnell gets yet another four years to appoint even more, and more radical, Federalist judges....?
_______
Booey--
At the very least I would think that it, in and of itself, is election fraud.
Regarding border leak....I think we would be foolish to to think that the 49th parallel is anything but porous in this regard
_______
Keith--
Thanks for the heads-up!
Regarding the throwing out of...Logic is not their concern - especially when they know it will not work but will, instead, provide them with base and/or primary protection.
