Yesterday's Gone...Yesterday's Gone!

Note, above, who the braintrust of yesterday's right sided flag of convenience in Vancouver civic politics was touting as their mayoral candidate in a tweet posted, well...

Yesterday.

Meanwhile, while the rest of us who have no interest in voting for alphabetically named flags of convenience for better living do our best to not stop thinking about tomorrow, there is absolutely no truth to the scurrilous rumour that all CoV employees will be wearing yoga pants by Remembrance Day.

________
From the good news side of the ledger...
#VanPoli won't have MDG's atrocious tweets to kick around any longer (for those that haven't muted them forever already)...And it would appear that buses and party memberships still can't make the best connected of stalking horses meaningful when it comes to real rather than riding membership and/or leadership elections...

Now that the ‘right’ mayor is ensconced, I guess Globalnews can stop Willie Horton-ing the masses.

This was a "bought" election. Sim's ABC spent $1.6 million to get elected and that is one hell of a lot of politcal favours to pay back!

Many of the former members of Vancouver City Council lost their seats to a variety of others, mainly ABC. If Sims does "fix" some of the homeless problems he would be mayor for life. If not, he'll be out next election, regardless of how much money he has behind him.

The MSM did a good job of blaming Kennedy and council for all the problems in Vancouver although no one wanted to talk about how this all happened and the fact there wasn't much he could do about a lot of it. There is the no small matter of the Constituion. Sims may find that a problem also. Lack of housing, lack of money, too many poisonious drugs were not problems created by Kennedy. They were created by all of us over the past 40 years or more. Homelessness started to be an issue back in the 1980s. Thats a provincial and federal issue, same as health care, etc. Turn on the news or read a few papers in North American cities any where and they all have the same problems as Vancouver.

The other problem is people's unwillingness to pay more taxes to deal specifically with the social/medical issues facing the unhoused and mentally ill. Of course no one wants to talk about the increase in senior homelessness and that is simply the lack of money to pay rent. The lack of money is due to the lack of money they receive from their pensions.

If Sims can "solve" the ;problems, good on him. If he walks away from all of it in a few years, wouldn't blame him.

Every one wants solutions, but not many want to work at it.

Would, or even could, Ms. Appadurai win a seat in the legislature? John Horgan hasn’t stepped down. Would any other MLA step down?

The point is.. the fix was in. Ms Cull, a former cabinet minister and a NDP insider did not want someone who was more environmentally friendly. The NDP is really a tired old party with few new ideas and definitely not democratic. Here is hoping this party will enjoy the hinterland after the next election.
