One Graph, One Very Important Term.

From Justin McElroy's bracket-free work at CBC British Columbia based a re-working of the numbers from the BC-CDC...

Please note how the first rise of the green and orange lines back in the spring lagged behind the initial sharp increase in the red line. Now look at the second sharp rise in the red line over the last two weeks and note that the orange and green lines have not yet moved. Put another way, I sure do wish that every single corpMedia person covering this story would use the term 'lagging indicators'  when it comes to current hospitalization and death numbers every single time.

OK?

“The B.C. government is set to hire up to 500 additional health professionals to increase contact tracing in the province, officials announced Wednesday.”

I have a feeling they’ll be busy. And unfortunately much of the tracing will start at school.

Lew--

And now, three straight days of 70+ new cases...Vancouver Coastal now at highest number of active cases....ever.

Are we shifting to a 'manage' things as is-type strategy as new infections shift to younger people?

Opening schools when the numbers are spiking doesn’t seem like a good idea. Especially since we are learning more every day about the negative implications in other jurisdictions.

We have the time to study closely what’s happened elsewhere and put best practices in place. We should use it. Too much at risk not to.
