This time it's Springsteen's 'Stolen Car', a tune that he says was the bridge from 'The River' sessions to what would become 'Nebraska'.
And yes, just in case the E's were wondering, there is a Phoebe Bridger's cover.

After the warbling is done I briefly discuss my concerns with Central Lotusland's 'Broadway Plan'.

the car is gorgeous they were comfortable, didn't always handle well, but they sure had speed and power. carried all your belongs if necessary. Now they build apartments smaller than that car. Some times I'm still tempted.
ah the Broadway nightmare. its going to be ugly. the units expensive and the under ground sky train not used by many. it will most likely bring more unhoused people to the area and the only ones who win are the politicians and the developers/contractors. Projects like this will most likely result in more people leaving the city and moving south of the river or the other side of the harbour.
Urban areas can be redeveloped so they can accomodate people, pets, transportation, business, etc. Unfortunately we simply do not have politicians, developers, archeticts who know how to do it or don't want to. There are some amazing projects in Europe. The Netherlands has some of them. They're people/family friendly. Denmark ditto. We are such savages. Destroying sight lines, omg. that was one of the wonderful things about the city, you could see ocean, mountains etc. politicians try to sell us on oh, it will enable us to house more people at an affordable price, ya right. have yet to see that.
The City and Province ought to have been working on housing since the 1980s. Had they even thought about the future and purchased more land for future use, people would not be in the pickle they are today. Unaffordable housing, not geared to families, and not enough small parks for kids to play in. no thoughts given to people living at the poverty line and providing decent housing for them.
The densification project might sound good, but its simply going to over whelm areas and most likely be unaffordable for most and there won't be anything for the disabled. By the time the politicians and developers have finished making Vancouver "liveable", all that will be living there will be the wealthy, childless, and homeless.
We are not out of room for people to live, we are out of housing people can afford.
I've been reading some of the articles regarding the project, yikes. wonder if any of those high rises will with stand the big shake when it hits
First heard America when it came out when I was in England, floored me then and still does, it never gets old.
Good one Ross.

Sounds like a manifesto.
And a good one at that.
