It would appear that the massive war chest is all spent out and Spam-A-Lot* is finally dead according to Dan Fumano's piece in the VSun:
The B.C. NDP flipped the key battleground riding of Vancouver-False Creek on Saturday night, on its way to winning nine of 11 seats in the City of Vancouver.
New Democratic candidate for False Creek Brenda Bailey had collected 5,295 votes to 4,512 votes for the two-term incumbent Liberal Sam Sullivan...
Even more satisfying, to this long term observer at least, is the way Smilin' Sammy went down, essentially disavowing everything he once pretended to stand for:
...During the campaign, Sullivan took a “harder line” on drugs than voters had seen from him in the past, Prest said, including vocally opposing a plan approved last week by Vancouver city council to open an overdose prevention site in the riding...
Now, as for Ms. Polak and Mr. Johal?
Here's hoping that Angus Reid and Co. were right about which way pre-election day early voters were leaning.

Yes, I'm here all this!
Ricky!
Hope all is well with you and yours down on the farm.

Sullivan and Polack loosing made my evening. They were part of the B.C. Lieberals cabal when child poverty was the thing the B.C. Lieberals ensured continued. For 15 out of the 16 years B.C. had the highest child poverty rate in Canada. It was good to see them go! Now Jas Johal, why he ever ran for the B.C. Lieberals is beyond me, but hey I guess he thought he could be premier some day. Not so much now. Wilkinson looked like one pissed off puppy last night. He couldn't even fake it. Guess this will be Todd Stone's next job, leader.
Had to laugh about the NDP in Richmond. thought I'd never see the ridings go back to the NDP. Back in the day, when the Oak St. Bridge had a weekly toll on it, $1 a week, the Socreds ran Ernie LaCoeur. He promised if he was elected they'd remove the toll. He was elected, toll was removed and Mom's line was the people of Richmond sold their souls for a dollar a week. Ya, well some have their souls back.
The Conservatives running cadidates in some ridings was a smart move. My take on it was, they didn't expect to win, but they wanted to see how they would do in particular ridings. They did fairly well. If the B.C. Lieberals can't get their act together, I'd not be surprised if the next right wing party we see is the B.C. Conservative Party. They ran a conservative here in Nanaimo. I suspect they wanted to see how many Albertans truly live here and brought their politics with them. (yes we have a huge number of Albertans living in Nanaimo)
At least Horgan has 4 years to do what he wants without having to consult the Greens. if he does this correctly, B. C. will be better off. We had 16 years of the B.C. Lieberals, in 4 years we will have had 7 years of the NDP and they ought to be able to make life better for a whole lot of people especially the disabled and children.
Even with a healed broken leg my dancing career is finished. However, If you ran a video of your daughters tap dancing I'd be very happy! You know for all of us who are too old to make the moves any more.
i wonder if greens dropped to not split vote in tight races [-lib ndp if allowed?
I guess Jas Johal can always go back to being an unbiased tv ‘journalist’
A fine night that, alas, sees me still represented by one of the suckers who cleared the way for hockey bags of cash to be laundered in our casinos and elsewhere like it was completely ok.
It would be fun to see JJ go back to his old job just so he could scream at Adrian Dix for old times' sake.
In Parksville/Qualicum awaiting the results of mail - in votes. Usually an eyes closed slam dunk for anyone with a pulse for the liberals, their candidate Michelle Stillwell up for a 3rd term is behind NDP Adam Walker.
Had a lot of respect for Michelle as a medal winning Para Olympian, but not so much after she ran for the liberals with the sleaze public knowledge and all around us. Hope to heck she is dumped, it would be handy to have a representative in the riding of the governing party that will do something other than look for a camera.
Glad to especially see Jas J. Sullivan and Polak gone along with the rest of the paid for members of the grifter palooza. Best thing that happened to B.C. politics when Horgan and the gang got rid of the money from unions and corporate investors.
@keith And especially the limit on donations to $1,253.15 per year, AND banning out of province (eg. Albertans) with their $100,000 helpers to El Gordo and Christy.
