Gosh.
I guess some speech isn't quite as free as advertised in the Sunshine State.
DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis. Ron.
Why?
Well....
Well....
A Republican state senator in Florida has introduced a bill that, if passed, would require bloggers who write about Gov. Ron DeSantis, his Cabinet or state legislators to register with the state...
Gosh.
I guess some speech isn't quite as free as advertised in the Sunshine State.

"It's hard to imagine a proposal that would be more violative of the First Amendment," Kuby said. "We don't register journalists. People who write cannot be forced to register."
Has he checked the current make-up of the Supreme Court? I have no trouble imagining MC Roberts and the Furious Four finding that registration is no impediment to free speech, or alternatively, that it is and so the registration of lobbyists is unconstitutional.
Oops! That should, of course, be MC Roberts and the Furious Five.
It is the same DeSantis who claims that the Russo/Ukraine war is a dispute.
What we see is the end result of an extremely corrupt politcal system in the USA, made more corrupt by the UD Supreme court which is not unluke the Mullah's in Iran.
Forgotten is history and "Peace in our time" where Americans did nothing when the NAZI war machine stormed into Poland after the Brits served up Czechoslovakia on a platter.
Putin's NAZI war machine has sputtered along and Ukraine needs unwavering help now, lest Putin's mob start picking off small states to suit is "Peter the Great" mentality.
As a Canadian, I say beware of DeSantis, he might want to do the same and send his tanks into Canada. If Putin could do it, so can he!
Who would have thought there could be someone worse than Trump!
Strange and dangerous days ahead.

Too much of a slippery slope. Heading into something far from democracy.
Cap--
Interesting how the good justice Roberts has worked to separate himself from the herd now that he had that majority, and furious, five in hand.
_____
EE and TB--
Agreed.
And, of course, Mr. DeSantis is now being referred to by a number of the usual suspects as the 'reasonable' right-sided candidate. Heckfire, even Jeb Bush has kinda/sorta publicly signalled his support.
If DeSantis does run and does gain popular support, it will be interesting to see how long it takes the Never Trumpers at the big media grift trough (i.e. the fine folks at the Bulwark and the Lincoln Lads) to jump back on the Republican bandwagon.
_____
Booey--
That slope is getting pretty darned steep as well as slippery.
.
None of this surprises me, especially the proposed law regarding bloggers.
DeSantos is more dangerous than Trump because Trump was simply lurching from one side of the ship to the other and didn't know where he was headed, except he wanted to make money.
DeSantos is smarter than Trump. He knows how government works and what can be done and when. Makes him much more dangerous than Trump ever was.
If DeSantos became President the U.S.A. would look a lot like NAzi Germany.
DeSantos is not an alternative to Trump. He is much more dangerous.
