The Party's Over....
Look.
I take absolutely no solace in the fact that British Columbia lost more jobs than any other province last month.
And I take a commenter's point down the page on the Corporate Donations Gone Wild post that things were not so great at the end of the '90's.
Global economic downturns will do that to regional governments.
No matter which party is in power.
But here's the thing.......
We just went through probably the biggest windfall boom (see Prices: Natural Gas, for example) that this province ever has seen.
And, perhaps, ever will see.
And what have we got to show for it?
Really, what institutions (ie. not white elephants, pavement, and/or sea level skating ovals) has the Head Party Boy given us that will really help when things are not booming?
Or, more to the point, what pre-existing institutions, institutions that were set up by previous governments, including the long-running government of the Wacky One, that have proven that they can help us make it through the dark nights, has Mr. Campbell not hived-off and sold to all those fine folks who have done their best to win over his friends and influence his political uncles?
I really want to know.
Thanks.
