Monday Monday...

HaveItVille

There sure were a lot of folks on the Twittmobile of a certain persuasion that were screaming and yelling about the fact that the BCTF ran a self-funded TeeVee ad on the local edition of the big football game yesterday. That's strange...I haven't seen the same folks get all huffy and upset about the BC Liberal Party's pretend government ad campaign that is being paid for entirely with public dollars...That said, sure enjoyed this tweet from MAdey....

Speaking of the big game...In my mind, one of the big winners yesterday was the quarterback that didn't even play...

Couldn't help but notice that Ray Lewis only mentioned his deity of choice once during his official on-field post-game interview...Which means those betting the 'under' (most prop lines had him at '3') won big money betting against God...Oh the humanity!...

Speaking of other games...At first, I couldn't figure out why the European SUV quotient was even higher than usual on campus over the weekend...And then I remembered that there was some kind of stringed racquet thingy with people who speak Spanish taking place...

I see that Jonathan Kay was making stuff up about late term abortions again, and that Carolyn Bennett called him on it, which appears to have led to a correction by the NaPo... Informed pushback really does matter...

Speaking of informed pushback...Media culpa is on the case again...This time it's not plagiarism but, instead, unsupported claims central to the columnist's 'thesis' that appear to be legitimately at issue...

In the 'credit where credit is due' department...Glad to see that the BC government is going after a private healthcare clinic whose practices, billing and otherwise, they have concluded are a threat to universal public care...

Suddenly, everywhere there is this Dipper-assisted '100 Days' thing...Personally, I think they would be well advised to stop the early celebrating and push the need for heavy GOTV lifting instead...But that's just me...

Finally, just in case you missed it, friday afternoon cat-blogging to the contrary, your feline friend just may be a ghostly, whisker-faced killer...

Wrong link on the universal public care. There is a wee typo in that paragraph too :)

Hi Ross

Nice Monday morning quarterback roundup of links and goings on to start the week. Thanks.

Agree with you on the 100 day countdown vs GOTV. The countdown feels a bit too keen simply for power (which I totally sympathize with) but I feel more strongly for the strong voter turn out which I think is a stronger message for both change and responsive government.

Thanks.

Hope all is well

Excellent point Bill...I must confess that I was thinking about this purely from the raw politics point of view when I type it...But I agree that this air of inevitability thing is a bit unseemly.

Hey Ross,

All is well on this side of the Atlantic. Here until middle of the year, then...who knows? We'd prefer to come home, but somewhere else in Europe is looking most likely.

It is Europe.
