From Shannon Paterson of CTV:
When Justin Trudeau announced he would step down as Liberal Leader, former B.C. premier Christy Clark seriously considered throwing her hat in the ring for the federal leadership race.
It was her lack of fluency in French that ultimately led her to bow out, and Mark Carney won the vote in a landslide.
With a new leader in place, Clark is now considering running as a federal Liberal in B.C. in the next election.
“I really believe in this party,” said Clark.
“I believe in Mark Carney, and I believe in what we need to do to grow our country’s economy and lessen our dependance on the United States. So I am seriously thinking about running in this election to support the Liberal Party.”...
Given the cageyness of Ms. Clark so far, and the fact that Marky Mark is not yet crowing at the break of dawn, it would appear that the deal for something bigger than a back bench slot has not yet been done.
But still...
______
To be clear, however, MM was present at the Liberal vote thingy doing his thing, so there's that...
Evan Scrimshaw thinks that this would be a good development re: a big tent for Carney....I'm not sure the pragmatic Mr. Scrimshaw understands the massive holes this particular pole would poke in the left coast portion of said tent's big top...

The Conservatives were smart enough to reject de Jong (how bad do you have to be to be rejected by the Cons?).
Will the Liberals reject the person who thought de Jong was wonderful provincial Cabinet material?
You nailed it. Couldn't agree with you more.
Like a bad song... she's tone deaf or she has a VERY inflated notion of her own competence. She's like an old corpse that keeps surfacing no matter how many rocks you weigh it down with!
With a lot of long time Liberals in the family, I can safely say, any thought Ms. Clark running for the Federal Liberals, would akin to letting the Mango Mussolini run for the federal Liberal Party.
Ms. Clark is just not toxic, she is radio active.

First...Clearly Jenni Byrne had no use for Cookie Dough Mike's shortbread recipe.
Second...Will they reject said person? Only if their expediency meter stays left of zero, I reckon.

I was trying to think of what safe seat she would be angling for...With Joyce Murray stepping down, I reckon it's got to be Vancouver Q.

If only someone would buy her a talk show to keep her out of our political lives...

Don't forget, the Central Canadian Laurentians have a firm grip on the reigns again...I'm pretty sure they don't give a hoot-in-heckfire about the feelings of western FedLibs if they can score a few points on the Globe and Mail's editorial pages...In that regard, the weather vane to watch will likely be the good Mr. Larsen's next bit of obviousness.

Poor Christy, guess she didn't get the memo, she is toast. The federal Liberals won't want her. She does have an inflated sense of her abilities and her position in the world, sort of like Smith in Alberta.
Yes, a talk show would be good, but alas she is a little past her prime for that also. Life can be a bitch when you make a mess of things while premier.
Mr. K.................
Quote: "They are Man’s and they cling to me, appealing from their fathers. This boy is Ignorance and this girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased.”
Charles Dickens - A Christmas Carol
I use this quote because at Christmas party many years ago, a conversation about the BC Liberal Party and what an old time BC Liberal thought of Campbell and his two rising stars Clark and Falcon - he quoted the above.
I think he was correct as Falcon imploded the BC Liberals leaving a large debt and those donating to his cause probably taking legal action to get their monies back.
Getting money for a Federal election will be hard and Ms. Clark seen as a controversial non Liberal running under the federal banner maybe a bit too much to stomach.
Many will not be forgiving, but with media propaganda, who knows.
“I was trying to think of what safe seat she would be angling for...With Joyce Murray stepping down, I reckon it's got to be Vancouver Q.”
Not so sure it would be a safe seat for her Ross, Eby beat her in Vancouver - Point Grey when she was premier, requiring a safe seat in Kelowna - West to take one for the team to get her elected, and looking at on-line comments memories are long.

And if she is angling for something more than a back bench, she still doesn’t have much French which she said, ahem, was the her reason for dropping out of the Fed. Liberal leadership race.
If she really wants to help the Federal Liberal cause she should resurrect her Federal Conservative membership and run for them.
Excellent points Keith. Maybe she's angling for one of those relatively safe-ish Delta seats instead.
And now that you've got me thinking.... I even remember that 2011 PGrey bye-bye when Eby almost won despite the baseless smears that Ms. Clark's team flung like candy thrown from a float at a parade.
And, finally...
Thanks for heads-up about Neil a while back!

Thanks for the additional specifics, insight and Dickens quote EE.
You've got me thinking that it is important to be aware that Ms. Clark and/or MM still have the clout to get a media trial balloon or two floated. In that regard, I note, with interest, that it appears that only other outlet that that has picked up this story in the two days since the local Bell TeeVee affiliate 'broke' the news is the Hill Times. Although, in the latter story, they do say, in classic unnamed source fashion that... "Senior Liberal sources said that they’re also interested in Clark’s potential candidacy."

ABC anyone but …
Uk says Carney a recession enabler?
Isn’t someone from bc already in pmo?
Stranger things have happened...Depending on Carney's campaign theme...Canadiana pride and decoupling from USA......BC is the key province....pipelines for Asia exports of oil, lng, potash, lumber..
Clark will tout her LNG and Site C bona-fides, ....
Interesting times.....Seems to me Trump plans on decimating the Canada auto industry, which is integral to the US auto industry....Trumpy wants the big three auto giants to abandon their multi-billion dollar Canadian auto plants and build multi-billion dollar plants in the US....Trumpy wants the big three to set-up shop in the US.
Which means, ....Canada can purchase these fully functional modern plants for pennies on the dollar(if the big auto makers heed Trump's warnings)..Marc Carney can commission a couple more big auto plants be built in Canada to complete the car assembly process....Canada and Mexico can combine auto manufacturing and create cars, completely eliminating US participation...
Canada as a stand alone car market.....a growing market, a market without Tesla, a market with countries like Germany, Japan and others fully participating in..
The more I think about Trump's war on Canada's auto industry, the more longterm opportunities I see..
Same with Canadian lumber.......The federal guv, with provincial buy in.....
Marc Carney and his upcoming federal election win...
The time is now for Canada Guv to build a million affordable homes....using BC softwood lumber, Canadian lumber..
Like I say......Trump's assault is....An opportunity for Canada guv to rev up it's economy while we wait on Trump to die.
My strategy.......instead of playing twiddly winks with an orange dink...
Carney needs to tell Canadians how we can succeed without the US.....
Trump on hearing that from Carney.....A light bulb might turn on in orange fool's mind.
The world market......8 billion persons....The US market...330 million persons.
Cheers
