I really don't know if people are "massively" against the protests. One of my aged siblings thought it was wonderful and reminded her of the Claquoit Sound protests and they did achieve something. The majority of commuters aren't being inconvienced.
When the protestors blocked the 5th St., bridge in Courtenay last week, we were free to take the 17th St. bridge and yes, for the Valley it was a tad slower, but not so that I had to think of anything to do while "captured" in my vehicle.
CBC had a reporter, on the other day, explained how the 'elected' council form of government came about, installed because of the Indian Act and their "authority" extends only to "reserve" land. the hereditary chiefs are still the authority in the traditional lands which they never gave up. The more publicity, the more information gets out to the public so they can make up their own minds.
There is no reason they can't change the route of the pipeline. The rising cost of the pipeline is making it, in my opinion, less and less attractive, as the billions pile up. Tax payers, those commuters, may share that opinion. How long will that pipeline be used to make up that $12B. There aren't that many jobs involved, so its scraped or moved about the only one who will get their knickers in a knot is Jason. if we send him 6 billion dollars, he'll shut up and they can clean up some of the abandoned wells in Alberta.
LNG isn't a "green" product. It needs lots of other resources to get it out of the ground and shipped. Why destroy our environment so another country can destroy their environment also with manufacturing junk, no one really needs. If people were thinking about the future, leave the stuff all in the ground and wait a hundred years.
I wonder if the good Mr Baldery likes what industry did to Grassy Narrows with the mercury poisoning- now there was something to not like.

As you say RossK, the real question is left unanswered because Keef doesn’t show his work. He may be right, he may not; which is not a good look for a “journalist” to present to his audience. Even if journalists all look better at closing time.
e.a.f. I don’t think Jason cares much about the current kerfuffle over the pipeline serving BC’s LNG interests. Except as a foil for the one we bought to carry his wet dilbit dreams.

As a journalist, having access to all of the facts, is Baldrey suggesting that B.C. Lottery Corporation get involved using PlayNow.com account's recent increase of 2,400%, to be the deciding factor?
There's an interesting piece over on Counterpunch about, in particular, KKR, as well as the connivance of the Alberta pension investment group. It gives a bit of the flavour of the folks looking to stoke up the carbon generators and squeeze whatever leftover funds can be wrung out of the Canadian serfs. Lots of nasty stuff, well beyond Baldry's snide snipings, discussing how protesters are all hired thugs from out of town, country, continent and that we who hew to Canada's laws can't put up with the lawlessness of these FN and supporters. No one seems to want to mention that FN want their laws in their lands only. These goons want our law everywhere. There is also talk about the BC Supreme Court injunction...being a former school teacher, I got to live through a lot of BCCC stuff before the issues finally landed on the desk of the SCC, who rendered a decision overturning all the lower court stallings in a matter of minutes. SCC has already decided this a couple of times in a rarther definitive fashion, but CGL and its gov't and law enforcement friends seem to figure that they can pull a fast one if only they can pull it fast enough. Frightening.
