Yesterday, we linked to the inspirational hijinks by the kids at UC Berkeley who responded with levity, quite literally, after they got a dose of authority thrown in their faces a week or so ago.
But, all snark aside, if you were a kid on the Quad of the UC Davis yesterday, how could this possibly NOT radicalize you?
And even more snark-free, it is amazing to me that the kids in the video above remained, by all accounts, completely violence-free in their response.
Something's definitely happening here. And no amount of cynical trivialism piled on top of the thing by the likes of PJ O'Rourke et al. and their media enablers is going to crush it, I reckon.

As I do when I begin to lose CKNW's signal on my not quite as scenic return from work as yours, I switched to CBC and caught that interview with O'Rourke. PJ used to be a funny, observant right wing sort. Guess that sort lose their sense of humour when its opposition begins playing the game of opposition by new rules, rules that have already begun bringing out the worst of his people, the people a lot of regular people have been observing long enough, thank you very much.
By the looks of the above video, the fight being fought on behalf of us regular folks is well worth winning.

I agree with you on O'Rourke.
But what really bugged me was the way the host, Mr. Banbury, was so willing to go down the cynical, trivial road...I mean is the really important aspect of these kids getting worked up the smell of B.O. and patchouli oil....Sheesh.
___
And what's with thing you have for the (notso)Giant98 anyway?

I do not care for any of CBC's talking heads. The CBC, Banbury included I suspect, like most media, prefer protest movements that blow crap up.
On CKNW. I have tried to rationalize my radio station preference in the past. History. Know your opposition. Christy's cleavage. Can't even lean on that last one any more. Must be the adverts for comfy beds, muscle ache relief and male testosterone boosting.
It is informative, I say reaching, really reaching, think I feel a muscle ache coming on reaching, that the Zest adverts hit the 'NW airwaves at the same time as the smelly new Occupy hippies.
When the the Mother Corp booted Captain Jack, I knew we were in big trouble.
And I have a sneaking suspicion that one of Mr. Harper's grand scenario's includes bringing Barbara's boy home to really turn the thing to codswallop.

I have a wee bit of an NW problem sometimes myself....
Personally, I think it may be the lack of any reasonable local alternative.
.
The only reasonable alternative in our area when it comes to talk radio is CFRO's Redeye on Saturday mornings nine 'til noon. Too bad for me I cannot pick it their weak signal on any of my radios unless I am in my car and drive far enough west for all my town's church steeples to stop causing signal interference.
that video literally makes me feel sick ... all those fat guys with helmets, masks, and dark glasses are TERRORISTS
you got to stop, hey, what's that sound?
this is a bell that can't be unrung. The police will soon be seen as the bad guys by nice normal middle class white people in the United States. And when that happens, things are going to get very very bad for all kinds of reasons.
can you say ... "Kent State"
This one sums it up for me.

I think you may be right. Interestingly, here in Vancouver, the mayor got whacked around in the recent election campaign for not doing this, both by the opposition RobFordian-type campaign and, of course by the usual suspects (i.e. screamers in the proMedia)

Ya, Kent State came to my mind too. Thing is, these are not the Nat'l Guard....They are campus cowboy cops, which makes it even more chilling, especially if you watch the last couple of minutes where they back away, in formation, with their massive teargas rifles drawn and at the ready.
