If the Lee County Republican Party has their way, the state of Florida will be banning the use of Covid-19 vaccines. Yes, you heard that correctly. Based on a majority vote, the Party has passed a so-called “Ban the jab” resolution that will now go to the desk of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) for his consideration...

Given the actual data, which overwhelmingly indicates that the mRNA vaccines protect old people from dying, you could just dismiss this 'Ban the Jab' codswallop out of hand as nothing more than yet another small group of wackaloons looking to ride the algorithm's 'Own the Libs' outrage wave all the way to the sunny shores of a quick hitter on the Newsmax TeeVee before it recedes into the backwash of a couple of long segments with Dennis Prager and/or Ben Shapiro and is then forgotten forever.
Unfortunately, particularly given the way things work in our modern media world, such an out of hand dismissal would be a mistake.
Because, if the algorithm's fast forward feedback loop gives the fine folks from the Lee County Republican Party any traction whatsoever, you can bet that the (not so) creatively destructive army of analytical boweevils working for Mr. DeSantis will do very their best to amplify the heck out of this 'resolution'.
And if that works, the next thing you know it will be a seriously considered policy initiative for the Florida governor that, if it then wurlitzers up further outrage, especially after its profile is raised when it is joked about incessantly by commentators on CNN and MSNBC for a news cycle or three, it will ultimately become a 'legitimate' issue for debate between when the Republican presidential primary season gets underway early next year.
Meanwhile, a considerable number of those old folks in Fort Myers and the surrounding environs will decide not to get their bivalent boosters.
With very predictable results.

Covid has been called the "Boomer Remover" it also should be called "Darwin's Revenge", because it seems to be culling the aged anti-vaxer crowd.
It seems we are living in a history demented world where those who should remember, do not, such as the scourge of Polio; Diptheria, and not to mention Smallpox.
Um, wasn't it vaccinations that stopped this dreadful diseases?
Just asking.
Now, I always thought "herd Immunity" was when about 95% of the population was vaccinated that because so many people are vaccinated the disease cannot survive and be passed on the unvaccinated.
Those who want "fun in the sun" in their retirement and flock down to Florida, so be it, just make sure your wills are in good order because it you are unvaccinated or have not had boosters, will make your heirs very happy.

Of course, the real issue here isn't the wackaloons but rather the grifters who purposefully amplify their lunacy for money, fame and/or political gain.

My perspective is rather simple Wackaloons beget Wackaloons and if the Whackaloons become extinct due being anti-vaxers at least a small branch of the tree of evolution will remain barren.
The grifter are another story and as our governments are so weak today, that they are afraid to deal with grifters, especially politcal grifters, they, themselves join the grifter class.
Honesty and public duty are no longer in the politcal lexicon, except at election time.

Unfortunately, from a public health perspective, infected wackaloons shed virus that doesn't care who it infects next.
As for grifters and the governments, in addition to fear there is the symbiosis based on expediency that is also a significant issue. Witness the actions of the current leader of the CPC.

I would say they aforementioned wackaloons and grifters are co- dependants. The grifters who purposefully amplify their lunacy for money, fame and/or political gain are well aware of the facts and data the rest of us have successfully depended on and lived to tell the tale.
The case of Dominion voting machines against fox news has shown that in spades, despite the grifters own words and documentation knowing the score they still pump out the lies and have the liars on their shows that they know are lying and off the rails Why? because if the wackaloons are presented with the real world, they will go to another right wing nuttery station that will tell them what they want to hear, thus lose market share. Covid, vaccines, boosters, voting machines, deep state, who cares what it is.? First ammendment etc. .
Even Trump their spiritual leader got covid and had the best available treatment still wasn’t enough to convince them, so what chance does scientific evidence now a few years old with a track record beyond question, and decades of vaccine data have.?.
Manna from heaven for the grifters of all types There seems to be a never ending supply of small dollar donors that keep the cycle going, they dial up the dumb on the air or political fundraising communications, the griftees hit the handy dandy subscribe button.
