Campaign Day 24 (cont'd)...Like Canuckleheads and Hawks....

.

....The Battle Between LINOS And Dippers Looks To Be Tightening....

At least according to Angus Reid:

VANCOUVER — The British Columbia election continues to tighten, with the NDP benefiting from a sharp drop in Liberal Leader Gordon Campbell's popularity ratings, a new poll from Angus Reid Strategies indicates.

The poll, conducted for The Globe and Mail and CTV, gives the Liberals 44 per cent support among decided voters, with the NDP right behind at 42 per cent, and the Greens at 10 per cent. The two-point gap between the two main parties is down from a three-point gap last week – both results are within the poll's margin of error and are effectively a tie. Other polls have indicated a much wider Liberal lead, including a Mustel Group poll released Thursday that shows the Liberals leading by nine points, 47 per cent to 38 per cent.

Among “absolutely certain” voters in the Angus Reid poll, the Liberals lead by just one point, 44 per cent to 43 per cent for the NDP....

Now, the most recent Mustel poll still has the Libs up by a significant, although shrinking margin, which does speak to methodological and/or poll question differences I think.

I must confess that when Sean Holman posted the AReid questions yesterday I thought I caught a slight whiff of the push on at least one question that looks like it was (to my mind at least) designed to kinda/sorta allow responders to accentuate 'Dear Manager's' negatives:

Thinking about the following qualities and characteristics, please say whether you think they apply to Gordon Campbell. (Apply/Do Not Apply)

* Inspires confidence
* Has a vision for the future of British Columbia
* Generally agrees with you on issues you care about
* Is honest and trustworthy
* Understands the problems of BC residents
* Is patronizing
* Is a strong and decisive leader

What do you all think?

(Regardless the absolutes, momentum is clearly going in Ms. James direction....And while some may still be questioning the early Dipper strategy to go negative, it would appear that the LINO's attempts to 'define' James have pretty much failed...The puffery may have missed that, but I would be willing to take pretty short odds that BOTH sides' War Rooms have not...)
