The Thing I Learned Today...

In the thread to the Ska-Punk post from the other day Scotty, following up on a helluva comment from Don F, suggested I should go have a listen to Muddy Waters' 'Electric Mud'.

So I put it on.

A whole lotta crazy psyching-up of a bunch of  Mr. Morganfield's classics there, that's for darn sure.

I mean, heckfire, there is even distortion and wah-wah pedals on the guitars.

Which is, to an ear like mine at least, super cool.

But that doesn't mean it was all that satisfying for Waters himself:

"...When it came out, it started selling like wild, but then they started sending them back. They said, ‘This can’t be Muddy Waters with all this shit going on, all this wha-wha and fuzztone.'..."

I get that I guess.

Not going to keep me from getting a loop pedal to call my own though.

I love Electric Mud. The cover alone is worth the buy.

Dang fine tunes Ross- gotta give you another Muddy gem. Every time I hear Muddy Waters I reach for my old Hohners.

Fine cover, indeed. And, apparently, that part of the thing is all Muddy's idea.

I got me the Hohners, in every major key now.

Will be doing Mr. Williamson's 'Early in the Morning' with the Geezers this very evening.

Re: the loop pedal:
Beware GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome)
I wish I had more time to play with the pedals I have (many good units) but most of the music I play requires none of that, so they languish. Besides, at this time of year, the grow carts full of tomato, pepper, eggplant and other plantlets block access to the guitar closet where the pedals live, and besides I have a dance to play (pedal-less) May 9
