Maxim #1: There Is No Such Thing As Good Prop.

Look.

Nobody has to make stuff up about the tragic George Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin case to demonstrate to all concerned how egregious Florida's 'Stand Your Ground' law is.

But NBC did its best to do both.

To make stuff things up to make look things worse, I mean.

And now they've been caught in their lie wherein they edited a phone conversation to make it sound like Mr. Zimmerman was actively racially profiling young Mr. Martin when, in the phone call concerned at least, there was no evidence of that whatsoever.

Quite the opposite actually.

Here, according to the Washington Post, who we are assuming are themselves not making stuff up (or wurlitzering the making up of stuff by others) is the NBC version of a phone conversation between Mr. Zimmerman and a police dispatcher moments before Mr. Martin died:

Zimmerman: "This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black."

Got that?

Active racial profiling, right?

But.

Here is what was actually said, from the actual tape according to the WaPo:

Zimmerman: "This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about."
Dispatcher: "OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?"
Zimmerman: "He looks black."

Brietbarting and O'Keefing the public for fun, profit and/or base-mobilizing purposes.....

It's not just for far-right screamer sites anymore.

______
And the worst part about all of this?....This didn't come directly from the WaPo...NBC was nailed by the screamers themselves....Unintended consequences on steroids much?
Of course, it is not even necessary to think that whoever did this did it to make things look more egregious than they actually were for the right reasons....Instead, it is entirely possible that this was done for the most banal and crass of reasons.... Which would be?.....Oh, I dunno, how about......Ratings?
